Byakuya Kuchiki

Byakuya appears as a tall, thin young man with bluish-gray eyes and long black hair. He wears the standard Shinigami uniform with the sleeveless haori of a Gotei 13 captain. He also wears white cloth bracers that cover the back of his hands.

Initially, he wears his hair pinned at the top and above his right ear with unusual white kenseikan hairpins, symbolizing his aristocratic status and belonging to the Kuchiki clan. In addition to the standard captain's uniform, as the head of the family, he wears a white heirloom scarf called the "Veil of the Silver Blizzard".

As the head of the clan, Byakuya acts in an aristocratic manner - he always appears unperturbed and apathetic towards others, even when he is actually experiencing deep internal conflict. In battle, he is also always very calm and maintains a formal tone. His actions are usually indifferent, bordering on arrogance. He rarely considers it worthwhile to spend time with his opponent. Byakuya is easily offended if he is called by improper names. Byakuya is very perceptive, and is fully aware of the limits of his abilities. Usually, everything he states in comparison to his opponent is justified. However, when he was younger, he was easily angered and extremely impulsive. Byakuya is a firm believer in law and order. As the head of one of the Four Great Noble Families and as a captain of the Gotei 13, he works hard for a peaceful society. He believes that if a high-ranking person like him does not follow the rules, then no one else will either. Also, to maintain order, all lawbreakers must be punished, even if it goes against his own wishes. Despite his cold and dignified demeanor, Byakuya cares for and protects those important to him.

Byakuya is an excellent swordsman, capable of delivering precise, lethal blows with ease. Despite rarely engaging in hand-to-hand combat, Byakuya is highly skilled in the field, easily able to incapacitate multiple Shinigami with a single strike. Although he has not surpassed his teacher, the Goddess of the Step Yoruichi Shihōin, he remains one of the fastest Shinigami in Soul Society. Byakuya is a very perceptive fighter, able to discern the nature of an opponent's attacks and weaknesses almost instantly. He is also a clever tactician, as seen in his spectacular use of Kidō to confuse his opponents. He is able to discern the abilities of his enemies and effectively use this knowledge to end battles in his favor. Byakuya is able to exert a gigantic amount of Spiritual Pressure, and when combined with his remarkable combat skills and prowess, makes him one of the most fearsome captains. His spiritual pressure is so great that it can be felt from a great distance and cause people to sweat in fear.

Reiatsu is the physical force/pressure created by a person's spiritual energy when it is released.

Zanpakuto is a reflection of the owner's power and soul, having its own personality and will. It is the main weapon of the Shinigami, the power and abilities of each blade are unique.

Shikai is the second form available to a Zanpakutō, which requires the Shinigami to be able to communicate with the spirit of their weapon and learn its true name in order to activate it.

Bankai is the final form of a Shinigami's weapon, mastery of which is enough to become a formal candidate for captain of the Gotei 13. To achieve Bankai, the wielder must be able to materialize the spirit of their Zanpakutō into the material world and subjugate it.

Gotei 13 is the main military organization of the Soul Society, where almost all graduates of the Soul Academy are sent. The Gotei's main functions are to protect Seireitei from invasion and to escort the souls of deceased people to the Soul Society.

In Gotei 13, as in any army, there is a table of ranks. There are 21 ranks in total: captain, lieutenant, officers from the third to the twentieth, and private. The ranks are in accordance: the lower the number, the higher the rank. The most important person in the Gotei 13 is the commander-in-chief. Then there are the 13 captains, then the lieutenants, then the officers, and finally the ordinary Shinigami.

Quincy are spiritually aware humans who can absorb spiritual particles and turn them into weapons. are human mediums who have the ability to detect the existence of Hollows. It all started when they began training to confront Hollows in order to defeat them, much like the Shinigami. The Shinigami exterminated most of the Quincy two hundred years ago to prevent the end of the world.

Arancar are Hollows who have removed their masks and gained powers similar to those of Shinigami.

Byakuya was born into the Kuchiki clan and raised in his family's mansion in Seireitei. He spent countless hours training to become the clan's head.

Already the head of the clan, Byakuya married a commoner from Rukongai, Hisana Kuchiki, thus breaking the law, accepting her into the noble Kuchiki family. Five years after the wedding, she became fatally ill and died. After some time, Byakuya became the captain of the sixth division.
