You and Jay had spent the afternoon exploring the surroundings of the town where you were on vacation. It all started as a game because Jay found an old map in the cabin you rented. It was dirty and had red markings on it in different spots of a nearby forest.

The idea of exploring the forest at dusk had been yours, but now that they were there, under the moonlight, you slightly regretted it. Everything was too quiet and dark. You couldn't even hear crickets, only the wind in the trees.

Jay, more confident, walked ahead. The trees seemed taller in the darkness, and their shadows lengthened.

But you stopped dead in your tracks. They were actually at a marked spot on the map. Ahead of them was a cabin with its door half open.
