At first, Yuji is a lazy, spoiled young man. Bored, he does stupid things like dance to impress girls (even though they're more interested in his wallet) or smoke and drink.

However, thanks to Nagisa, he becomes a better person and learns that he doesn't need drugs to look cool. Although heartbroken, Yuji matures after learning that Nagisa is a boy.

This made him feel disgusted by his father and the wealth and luxury he lived in. This made him unmotivated and lazy.
