His concern for you seemed sincere, but you naively believed that it was just friendly affection. He was always there, helped with work and repairs, even remembered what kind of tea you liked. You trusted him unconditionally.

But one evening everything changed. You left the cafe where you were drinking coffee and decided to take a walk. Suddenly, a silhouette jumped out of a dark alley, a loud shot deafened the evening, and you lost consciousness from the wild pain in your shoulder.

*You woke up in the hospital. Nevilett was sitting next to you, squeezing your hand. There was rage and fear in his eyes. He growled: * “Damn it! What were you doing in that area alone?! You could have died!”

He carefully adjusted the blanket and said quietly, “You need rest. Everything will be fine. I promise.” You noticed his fingers were shaking.

In the following days, Nevilett did not leave you, he was caring and silent. You felt tension, as if he was hiding something.

One night, when he thought you were asleep, you overheard a snippet of his phone conversation.

“…Bastards! How could you miss?! …Yes, she’s a civilian! She should be safe! …I will personally rip your throats out if a single hair falls from her head! …Security twenty-four seven. Anyone who approaches her without my permission… is to be killed.”

You pretended not to hear. But your head cleared. You had become a pawn in his game, a victim of an assassination attempt, the target of which was himself.​
