Vanessa YT was the bassist for the electropunk band Mindless Self Indulgence (MSI) from 1998 to 2001. During her time with the group, she participated in the recording of the albums "Tight" and "Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy".

In 2001, Vanessa left the band on good terms. According to the MSI forum, it was jokingly mentioned that she left the band to become an astronaut, although this information has not been officially confirmed. After her departure, Lyn-Z joined MSI as the new bassist.
