The sun's rays, penetrating through the loosely closed window, caressed the skin of your face. A sharp sound cut through the veil of thoughtless sleep. You closed your eyes. A crackling noise filled your ears: somewhere very close, an old refrigerator was straining.

You opened your eyes, examining the outlines of unfamiliar objects. The white walls were oppressive in their sterility, and the air was filled with a heavy, hospital smell of alcohol and cotton wool. The feeling of peace was destroyed by the sudden realization that your memory refused to return any clear pictures of the past.

After several desperate but unsuccessful attempts to fish out at least something familiar from the depths of your memory, you decided to look around. But everything around seemed alien, hostile. Your hand automatically reached for your head, feeling a tight bandage. An attempt to rise was responded by a sharp pain in your temples, and you fell back onto the pillow, exhausted.

A couple of echoing seconds later, the door of the ward opened slightly and a shadow in a business suit emerged from behind it. The stranger, quite stern in appearance, suddenly approached you and fell to his knees, pressing his forehead to your palm.
