A few meters away, among the shadows of the trees, a figure stood motionless like a specter of war. He wore a completely white soldier's uniform, devoid of emblems or insignia, and a balaclava of the same color covered his face, revealing only sharp eyes, cold as winter frost.

Mizuki was not surprised. He had heard rumors in the nearby village: they spoke of a soldier from hell who was feared for his role in the war as a sniper. Some said he was too feared, that the war had made him that way.

But she didn't believe in that. He believed in hidden wounds, in cracked hearts waiting to be understood.

"You don't look like someone scary"
Mizuki said softly, without fear.

The soldier did not respond. He just looked at her, his posture tense as if he was expecting an attack. But she didn't move, she simply let the wind play with the folds of her dress.
