Mana
Mana is the universal energy that fuels magic, coursing invisibly through all living beings and the environment. It acts as a bridge between the physical and metaphysical realms, enabling spellcasters to manipulate reality. In this modern fantasy world, mana is understood scientifically and mystically, studied in academies and harnessed through technologies like mana-powered machines. Individuals are born with unique "mana cores," which determine their capacity for storing and using mana. Overuse of mana can lead to "mana depletion," a state of physical and mental exhaustion, or even death. Mana is also replenished through rest, meditation, or absorbing it from ambient sources, such as mana-rich crystals or ley lines. Skilled practitioners can refine their mana into purer forms, increasing its efficiency and potency. The study of mana blends alchemical knowledge, spiritual discipline, and bioengineering, making it the foundation of both magic and technology in this world.
Aura
Aura is the personal energy field that reflects an individual’s emotions, intentions, and spiritual essence. It is a visible or perceivable manifestation of their inner mana, often glowing faintly during heightened emotional states or magical use. In this world, aura serves as a marker of identity, with its color, intensity, and texture unique to each person. Certain technologies and spells can analyze or manipulate aura, making it critical in areas like security, communication, and combat. Warriors enhance their aura to shield themselves or intimidate enemies, while healers read auras to diagnose ailments. Over time, an aura can shift in response to personal growth, trauma, or changes in one's mana. Stronger auras signify greater mana control or emotional discipline, while chaotic auras may indicate instability or corruption. Specialized practitioners, called "Aura Weavers," can shape auras into tools or weapons, a revered skill in both battle and diplomacy.
Powers
Powers are the unique abilities individuals develop, often influenced by their mana core, lineage, or interaction with magical phenomena. These abilities can range from elemental control to reality-warping feats, with no two powers manifesting in exactly the same way. Powers are categorized into tiers based on complexity and impact, from basic utility skills to legendary feats capable of shaping the world. In this society, powers are both a status symbol and a practical asset, heavily regulated by guilds and governments to prevent misuse. They often awaken during a rite of passage or under extreme emotional or physical stress. Advanced research has revealed that powers stem from a fusion of mana and the user's soul imprint, making them deeply personal. Mastery of one's power requires rigorous training, as overuse or poor control can harm the user and their surroundings. Some powers can be artificially augmented through enchantments or forbidden alchemical methods, though at great risk to the user's health and morality.
Hereditary Powers
Hereditary Powers
Hereditary Powers are innate abilities passed down through bloodlines, separate from divine blessings. Unlike blessings, which are granted by gods, these powers are rooted in genetics and lineage, making them exclusive to certain families or species.
Some bloodlines are famous for their Hereditary Powers, wielding abilities that have been refined and strengthened over generations.
These powers often manifest at birth or during adolescence, though some require training or external catalysts to awaken.
Hereditary Powers vary in potency—some remain unchanged across generations, while others mutate and evolve, leading to stronger or altered abilities over time.
Unlike god-given abilities, Hereditary Powers are not influenced by divine favor, making them one of the few sources of power independent from the gods.
Some Hereditary Powers can be combined with divine blessings, creating unique hybrids of mortal and divine abilities.
Due to their exclusivity, families with powerful Hereditary Powers often hold significant influence, whether in politics, combat, or specialized fields. However, those born without their bloodline’s signature power may be looked down upon, considered weaker than their ancestors.
Blessings
Blessings
In this world, Blessings are divine gifts bestowed upon individuals by gods, shaping their abilities, strength, and potential. They function as a direct connection to a deity, granting powers that reflect the god’s nature, domain, and influence. Unlike rigid contracts or restrictive oaths, blessings are fluid and vary widely—some gods grant raw physical power, others bestow mastery over elements, or technology.
At birth, some are chosen by gods, while others wait until adolescence, hoping to be selected before reaching adulthood. By age 18, those without a god’s blessing often face ridicule, as society values divine favor highly. However, individuals can also choose to follow a god, undergoing trials or proving their worth in order to earn a blessing. Each god has its own requirements, ranging from combat prowess to intellectual insight, moral alignment, or even sheer luck.
The strength of a blessing depends on the god’s power and influence. A blessing from a major god can grant immense abilities, making one a force to be reckoned with, while a lesser-known god might offer niche or unconventional abilities. Some gamble on forgotten gods or new/young gods, hoping to uncover hidden potential.
While blessings are invaluable, they are not the only path to success. Those without divine favor must rely on knowledge, technology, or other means to carve out their place in the world.
Gods
The gods of this world are vast in number, diverse in nature, and ever-changing in influence. They exist beyond mortal comprehension yet shape civilization, technology, and power through the Blessings they bestow. Some gods are widely worshipped, their influence spanning entire megacities, while others remain obscure, their names whispered only in forgotten ruins or digital archives.
Hierarchy of The Gods
Gods are not equal in power or status. The more believers a god has, the stronger and more influential they become, but most of the gods power do not come from followers or faith. Some gods have strict requirements in order to follow them, some are easier.
Prime Deities (The Overlords): The most powerful gods, worshipped across nations, capable of shaping reality. Their blessings grant immense power, and their requirements for followers are strict.
Greater Gods: Respected and widely followed, these gods offer strong blessings but may demand loyalty, specific traits, or feats of strength and intelligence.
Lesser Gods: Often overlooked but still influential in niche communities. Their blessings may be highly specialized, granting unique or unpredictable abilities.
There are plenty of gods without followers and are unknown, wether there ancient forgotten gods, or gods that are new to the block waiting for new followers and avatars.
Selection vs. Devotion: Some people are chosen by a god at birth or later in life, while others must prove themselves to earn a god’s favor.
Divine Influence: The gods exist beyond mortal reach, yet their influence manifests through dreams, visions, or direct communication in rare cases. Some gods are more involved with their followers, while others remain distant.
Conflict and Rivalry: Gods wage wars not just in the divine realm but through their followers. Rival gods may grant opposing blessings, leading to conflicts among believers.
Divine Menu
A person’s divine menu—a holographic or ethereal interface—displays their god’s name, a brief description, their blessings, and how they can evolve. Some blessings grow stronger over time, unlocking new tiers of power, while others remain stagnant unless the god’s favor is actively earned. It also has a reward and quest system that allows a god to reward there followers and avatars by letting the quest in the gates, wethwr is killing mosters, a going through a long maze with traps, each gate leads to another world, and the resources you get from rewards from completing quests, as well as the raw materials from these worlds is whats has let our world advance this far, and what makes up our economy. is also shows breif descriptions of yourself, like your age and name. The menu also has plenty other features as well.
Divine Menu & Quests
The Divine Menu is a personal interface that adventurers can summon, displaying essential information such as:
Personal stats, abilities, and divine affiliations
Active and completed quests from gods
Current standing within a god’s Domain
Acquired Hereditary Powers, Blessings, and Rewards
Gods assign Quests through the Divine Menu, ranging from simple tasks to life-threatening missions:
Monster Hunts: Slaying creatures from Gates or hostile zones.
Artifact Recovery: Retrieving lost relics, divine tools, or ancient tomes.
Resource Harvesting: Collecting rare plants, ores, or energy sources.
Divine Trials: Completing challenges to prove worthiness for greater blessings.
Rewards & Growth
Completing quests grants divine favor and power in the form of:
Upgraded Blessings & God-Given Abilities
Rare weapons, armor, and artifacts
Wealth, status, and influence
Skill enhancements or entirely new Abilities
Potential Avatar selection or higher Domain ranks
Through Gates and the Divine Menu, adventurers forge their own destinies, shaping their power, allegiance, and legend in a world where the gods watch, reward, and challeng
Avatars
Avatars
the Avatars—individuals personally chosen by a god to wield a greater portion of their power. Avatars are considered direct extensions of the deity’s will, their abilities surpassing those of regular blessed followers.
Gods choose multiple Avatars, though the number varies. Some deities select only one Avatar, granting them absolute favor, while others choose up to twenty or more, spreading their power among many.
Gods do not treat all Avatars equally—favoritism is common. A god may invest more power, blessings, or direct attention into an Avatar they find more suitable, leaving lesser-favored Avatars with weaker abilities.
The most capable Avatar usually becomes the Domain Leader, acting as the guild master who organizes followers, sets Domain objectives, and enforces the god’s will in the mortal world, but if there is an avatar or elite follower who more fit to lead a large amount of people, than they will lead instead, only if the avatars are worse leaders than an elite follower.
Followers
Followers – The Backbone of the Domains
Followers are the core members of a Domain, individuals who have pledged themselves to a god in exchange for blessings, power, and purpose. While Avatars serve as a god’s direct champions, Followers make up the majority of a Domain’s strength, working to expand their deity’s influence through combat, research, politics, or trade.
Becoming a Follower:
Unlike Avatars, who are personally chosen by a god, most people must earn their place as a Follower by meeting the Domain’s requirements. Some gods accept anyone willing to dedicate themselves, while others demand trials, skill, intelligence, or unwavering devotion.
Initiates: Newcomers who must prove their worth before receiving their full blessing. They often start with minor abilities and work their way up.
Full-Fledged Followers: Once recognized, a Follower receives a proper blessing, aligning them with their god’s Domain. Their strength varies based on the god’s power and how much favor they’ve earned.
Elite Followers: Higher-ranking members who have gained greater divine favor, often commanding groups within the Domain or specializing in unique abilities.
Life as a Follower:
The life of a Follower is not always easy. Some Domains function like elite organizations, offering wealth, power, and prestige to their members, while others are more militant, secretive, or demanding.
Favored Followers may receive special treatment, better housing, or direct communication with Avatars and higher-ups.
Lesser Followers struggle for recognition, trying to prove themselves worthy of more divine favor.
Betrayal or desertion is rarely forgiven—some gods strip deserters of their blessings, while others curse or hunt them down.
Abilities
Abilities – Personal Techniques of Mastery
Abilities are custom-made techniques developed by individuals using their Blessings, Powers, or God-Given Abilities as a foundation. Unlike God-Given Abilities, which are granted directly by a deity, Abilities are the result of personal creativity, skill, and adaptation.
Abilities allow individuals to refine and personalize their combat style, creating unique moves that suit their strengths.
These techniques can be variations, enhancements, or completely new forms of existing abilities, altered to fit a user’s personal fighting style.
Growth & Evolution: Over time, Abilities can be improved, refined, or even transformed into more advanced versions.
Signature Techniques: Many warriors and mages are recognized by their distinct Abilities, making them just as defining as their divine blessings.
Innovation in Battle: A well-developed Ability can give an individual an edge over someone with stronger raw power but less mastery over their techniques.
For example, if a god grants a sword technique, a creative warrior might modify it—adding aerial movements, changing the attack pattern, or incorporating their own Hereditary Power. This personalized technique becomes their own Ability, distinct from the original move.
Abilities showcase an individual's ingenuity, adaptability, and mastery, proving that true strength is not just in raw power but in how one wields it.
God-Given Abilities
God-Given Abilities
God-Given Abilities are powers granted exclusively through blessings, making them a direct extension of a god’s will. These abilities reflect the god’s nature, allowing followers and Avatars to wield power aligned with their divine patron.
Domain-Specific Powers: A god of fire grants pyrokinesis, while a god of knowledge may offer enhanced intelligence or foresight.
Favor-Based Strength: The more a god favors an individual, the stronger their abilities become. Avatars receive the most potent versions.
Growth & Evolution: Some abilities start weak but can evolve over time, unlocking new techniques or enhanced effects.
Unique & Specialized: Unlike Hereditary Powers, which are tied to bloodlines, God-Given Abilities can be highly specific or unique to a single individual.
Conditional Use: Some gods set requirements or conditions for using their abilities, while others allow unrestricted access.
Those blessed by strong gods can wield abilities capable of reshaping battlefields, while followers of lesser-known gods may receive more niche or specialized powers. However, losing a god’s favor can weaken or even strip away these abilities entirely, making divine reliance both a gift and a risk.
Gates
Gates – Portals to the Unknown
Gates are unstable rifts in space, leading to other worlds, dungeons, and resource-rich locations. They appear randomly or are summoned by divine intervention, serving as entry points to untamed lands, ancient ruins, and monster-infested domains.
Dungeon Gates contain multiple floors or zones, each guarded by monsters, leading up to a boss creature that rules the dungeon.
Exploration Gates lead to abandoned civilizations, divine testing grounds, or uncharted landscapes, where adventurers can recover lost knowledge, sacred artifacts, or rare materials.
Some Gates are temporary, closing after their objectives are fulfilled, while others reset periodically, allowing repeat challenges.
The most dangerous Gates are considered World Threats, leading to dimensions ruled by powerful entities, catastrophic environments, or long-forgotten deities.
Governments and Law
Governments & Law in a Divinely Influenced World (Expanded)
In this world, governments are the primary enforcers of law and order, establishing and maintaining civil structures, legal systems, and societal norms across various nations and continents. While gods have significant influence, races and political entities ultimately control the land's governance, ensuring the stability of their territories.
Governments vary in their form depending on the culture and species in control. Monarchies, republics, councils, and even oligarchies exist, each designed to manage the laws, military power, and economy of their land.
Law enforcement is generally overseen by the mortal authorities, such as city guards, magistrates, and courts, but these may be influenced or guided by gods of justice and order.
Gods and Their Influence on Law
Gods of Justice and Law often provide guidance to rulers and law enforcers, with many kings, judges, or high-ranking officials serving as vessels or avatars of these gods. They ensure that the legal systems reflect the divine principles of fairness, punishment, and restoration.
These gods might provide visions or divine revelations, influencing the decisions of rulers and their enforcement of the law, ensuring a balance between divine will and mortal law.
Neutral gods, while not directly involved in politics, may encourage balance, peace, or free will, leaving mortal governments to manage their territories as they see fit.
Mischievous or Evil gods may provide guidance to those who wish to disrupt the law. Criminals, revolutionaries, and rebels often serve these gods, whose followers work to upset established orders and sow discord within societies.
While these gods provide their influence, mortal law still holds supreme within most countries, and divine influence is often subtle, offering power, guidance, or blessings but not dictating every action.
Government and Law Continuation
Enforcing Law Without Divine Overrule
While some regions are directly governed by the divine, most political systems ensure that the gods' will is interpreted within a human framework, allowing mortal rulers to make decisions independent of the divine.
Civil governments are established to handle everything from resource management to foreign relations, taxation, and military operations, with divine influence being more of a cultural, advisory, or ceremonial role in many regions.
The Power of Gods and Domains
Even though gods are not the main rulers, they hold immense power due to their control over Gates and their influence on the economy. Gods regulate the flow of resources, wealth, and technological advancements through the blessings and rewards they provide for quests. They play a pivotal role in societal progression, offering divine power that shapes many aspects of life.
Domains, led by gods' avatars, also wield great influence, especially in areas with strong divine presence. While Domains are not fully equal to governments, they exert significant control over resources, social structures, and military forces, often having a larger sway over certain regions than governments themselves. Thus, while mortal governments handle daily affairs, gods and their Domains remain crucial in shaping the power dynamics, ensuring that divine influence continues to direct much of the world's wealth, progress, and governance.
