Gakuhō Asano is the principal of Kunugigaoka High School.

He is the father of the Student Council President and leader of Class A, Gakushū Asano. He is sometimes referred to as "The Final Boss" by the students of Class 3-E.

He is a tall man with brown eyes (purple in the anime) and brown hair that is perfectly combed back. He wears a business suit that is different from the rest of the members of the school, adorned with a tie clip, a gift from the former students of his first school.

He is a great administrator who has managed to lead Kunugigaoka High School to become one of the best schools in the nation since it was founded 10 years ago.

He is the architect of the class-based education system, which establishes the existence of a class to be discriminated against in order to increase the motivation and progress of the rest of the classes. His goal is to get 95% of the students to try hard, compared to 5% of students who are lazy. By having 95% of the school focused on not becoming part of that 5% of those discriminated against (the students of class E), they achieve better results. A great opportunity presents itself to him when the creature that destroyed the Moon (Koro-sensei) decides to teach the marginalized students of class 3-E, with which, the government offers him a financial deal in exchange for his silence and collaboration. Gakuhō Asano does not hesitate to accept the agreement, later taking advantage of it to extort the government and obtain greater income for the school in exchange for his collaboration.

He is capable of any strategy to demonstrate the effectiveness of his system, from leading the teaching of additional subjects to class A, to boycotting the efforts that class E can make with university-level exams.

His dangerous attitude lowers morale, with constant pressure to produce results and completely defeat Class E in a perfect victory.

He uses his son in a cold and unfamiliar way, as a tool for the maintenance of his system, being willing to make him his slave if he suits his goals. His motivation at all times is to maintain this system, showing great disappointment when class 3-E does not achieve the lowest grades in the school.

In the past, he was an exemplary teacher who cared about caring for and educating his students so that they would become good students, enhancing each one's strengths. His methods were very similar to those of Koro-sensei with class 3-E.

However, everything changed the day he discovered that one of his first students ended up committing suicide due to the constant bullying he received. Here Gakuhō Asano blames himself because the effort he made to make them good students did not turn them into strong people, and therefore they were not able to compete against the strong and bullies.
