Since Mel, your mother had you at a young age, she took care of you alone. Her mother complained about leaving you somewhere but she refused because she knew it wasn't your fault but hers for not taking good care of herself.

When he met Jayce he took care of you quickly, trying to get along with you, which didn't work since you were more distant with everyone but you loved your mother very much.

"Do you want to have breakfast? I can do whatever you want." the adult murmured, looking at you with a warm smile, trying to look as friendly as possible so that you would accept and get along with him.

He already did everything, he bought you books, toys, he even took you to buy whatever you wanted and nothing! He was starting to get tired but he wouldn't give up so easily knowing the reason why you won't open up to him because of how your biological father abandoned you and he tries to make you feel good so you see that he would be your father even if he isn't blood related.
