Richard de Rastignasse is the star of the Royal Menagerie, in the sense of the term's influence. Less of a snob than Madame Rosa, he stands out for his elegance, class and style. On the surface, he is a monster of vanity who can be cruel to anyone he considers unfashionable. But deep down, he is a big cat who is afraid of looking ridiculous...

Richard de Rastignas is a celebrity of the Royal Menagerie.

According to Teddy Jacquier Staley, the series' creator, Richard de Rastignas is a reference to the Lion of Belfort.

Personality He is less snobbish than Madame Rosa and displays elegance, class and style, but he is a lion who is afraid of the looks of others if he looks ridiculous.

5 tons of worldly vanity. This graceful elephant with a mystical aura lives in the great royal menagerie. A gift to Louis XIV from the King of Portugal, Madame Rosa speaks French with a strong Portuguese accent and willingly criticizes the French court, comparing it to her country of yesteryear. She is so old that she has stopped counting her age... Also, her memory is impeccable! So impeccable that she thinks she is endowed with a kind of clairvoyance (except that she sees into the past, not the future...). "I see... I see... The color of the stockings the King wore last Sunday... that were served as dessert at the summer banquet two years ago... the stupid name of the Japanese ambassador's dog... Ask her, she remembers!

Like the mean girl from high school, Madame Rosa is always surrounded by two ostrich admirers, Madame du Bec and Madame de Buc, who always agree with her every word, Madame Rosa is also arrogant

Two ostrich lovers, Madame du Bec and Madame de Buc, accompany Madame Rose wherever she goes and, of course, agree with everything she says.

Why the hell do people do this and that? Gazette, the mouse, knows! She is a real expert on people! As an ethnologist, she studies their behavior, their social codes (even if she does not always understand them...). Like them, she walks on two legs and wears clothes (which she makes from all the scraps of fabric she finds in the castle...). To be as close as possible to her subjects, she has decided to live in a strategic place... the queen's wig.

Belfort is a royal French spaniel with a proud and majestic gait, silky fur, neatly trimmed claws, and a gleaming medal in the shape of a heraldic lily. Belfort has absolutely no sense of smell.

Although he resembles a wolf and may seem intimidating to others, Lupin is a kind and generous young wolf. Lupin is a wolf with light indigo fur, a black nose, and golden eyes. His markings, underbelly, and inside of his ears are lighter than the rest of his body. This fearless animal, wandering with its nose in the air, is Lupin. He knows the maze of gardens and groves down to the tiniest corners. There is no flower he hasn't sniffed, no fountain he hasn't drunk from... But when it comes to his origins, Lupin knows nothing. One thing is for sure: his appearance gets him into trouble in many situations! Animals are afraid of him, and as for people, they grab their pitchforks as soon as they spot him!

But this never obscures his big heart. Those who know him know that Lupin is generous and kind. He never hesitates to steal a little food from the tables of royal banquets to offer a feast to those in need. This peculiar Robin Hood has lost count of the sticky situations he has had to get out of.

The mother of Belfort, Tane and Ponne, Diana is an alpha dog. Calm and kind by nature, she knows how to gain respect. She loves order, and with her, the rules of etiquette, the orders given by people, must be followed to the letter! Be careful not to upset her too much, otherwise she may reward you with one of her legendary tantrums! In the case of Belfort, Diana is patient: she is sure that her little son will sooner or later face the responsibilities that his social environment imposes on him. Belfort and his mother did not have a very warm relationship. According to the codes of the aristocracy, Diana is a distant and authoritarian mother. The young dog also respects and fears her a little ... but he does not hesitate to oppose him if he knows that his cause is just. Diana does not see the friendship of Belfort and Lupin in a very good light. For her, Lupin is a young bandit who has a very bad influence on her son.

The pet cat of the royal architect Vauban, Ariane is a gorgeous Siamese with a graceful gait. Despite her superior appearance as a smart cat, she is a friendly character who regularly comes to the aid of Belfort and Lupin. Her "Miss-I-know-it-all" side infuriates Lupin (or is it because of the eternal dog-cat rivalry?). Dynamic, she is eager to take action and does not hesitate to draw a claw if necessary! In human terms, she is 16 years old. Her favorite pastime: knocking things off shelves (if possible, on Lupin's head; it's much more fun...). In the first season, the panther Sita appoints her as the Siamese ambassador to Versailles

Tane, like Ponne, is naturally contemptuous and rather arrogant, despising her brother Belfort and other animals who are not part of the royal caste. She respects protocol, follows orders and loves hunting. Whenever Diana's back is turned, she takes the opportunity to make fun of him (like pushing him into the bushes...).

In fact, as shown in the movie Wig House, if either of them chooses to ignore Belfort and his friends rather than actively bully them, there is something wrong with them. Tané is a white and orange dog with a few orange spots on her back and underside, similar to Belfort. She has purple eyes, curlers on her head, and a purple collar adorned with a fleur-de-lis, the symbol of the French monarchy. The color of her bows is a reference to one of the evil stepsisters from Disney's Cinderella.

Ponne, like Tane, is naturally contemptuous and rather arrogant, despising her brother and other animals who are not part of the royal caste. She respects protocol, follows orders and loves hunting. Whenever Diana's back is turned, she takes the opportunity to play pranks on him (like pushing him into the bushes...).
