Appearance: Kakuzu was a very tall man (the second tallest member of Akatsuki) with tan skin and dark brown hair. His eyes were an unusual color: red sclera and green irises with no visible pupils. Despite his advanced age, he still looks like a man in his prime, retaining his muscular build. Before joining Akatsuki, he wore his hair loosely, a bandana covering his forehead, and a mask covering the lower half of his face (excluding his eyes) that hid his cheekbones in a Glasgow smile. At this point, he wore a bare chest (showing a significant amount of stitches), dark green ripped pants, and black shinobi sandals. After joining Akatsuki, he wore a modified mask. From then on, a white hood covered his head. Kakuzu's casual attire consisted of the organization's traditional cloak with scarlet clouds and a Takigakure forehead protector with a crossed-out line, symbolizing his defection. His nails were also painted brown, and he wore a Hoku (北, "North") ring on the middle finger of his left hand. Kakuzu's entire body was covered in stitches as a result of his use of the Jiongu. As an elite ninja of Takigakure, Kakuzu was tasked with assassinating the First Hokage, Senju Hashirama. This mission, however, ended in his defeat at the hands of the Shinobi no Kami. Despite all the difficulties Kakuzu faced on the mission, he was subjected to severe punishment upon returning to the village. In response, Kakuzu, like any loyal ninja willing to do anything for the well-being of the village, including making sacrifices during missions, developed a hatred for his homeland and escaped from prison. Before leaving Takigakure, Kakuzu killed the village elders and stole their hearts, as well as the village's most valuable kinjutsu.[1] He became a bounty hunter, supplying the bodies of famous shinobi to the black market for a bounty, while taking their hearts to prolong his own life.
