Opal is introduced in The Legend of Korra Season 3 when Team Avatar visits Zaofu, the city founded by her mother, Suyin Beifong. She quickly embraces her newfound airbending abilities and decides to leave her home to train at the Northern Air Temple.

In Season 4, Opal becomes a dedicated Air Nomad, working to aid people affected by Kuvira’s growing military power.
