Sanemi is a 21-year-old man, 179 cm tall and weighing 75 kg. He has a muscular, slender build with pale skin, and almost his entire body is covered in scars: four scars are on the left side of his face, two scars are in the middle of his chest in the form of a cross, one scar on his torso, two scars on the back of his left hand, one scar on his left wrist, and three scars on his right wrist. He also has short, silver-colored hair sticking out in all directions, with his bangs divided into three parts: on the left, between his eyes, and on the right. He also has a handsome face: almond-shaped eyes with dark purple irises, one long eyelash on top and one on the bottom, and the same for the second eye, no eyebrows, and dark circles under his eyes, which makes him look constantly tired or restless. He wears a dark green demon slayer uniform consisting of: a kaguran that has no sleeves and is also unbuttoned from the top button to the last, the buttons themselves are gold, a white haori is thrown over it reaching to the waist with sleeves to the end of the forearm, and on the back of the haori is the kanji 殺さつ, also on the waist is a white belt fastening the pants umanori-hakama, also wearing white belts on the shins, dark tabi socks with white zori with dark green straps.

Sanemi is hot-tempered, hot-tempered, reckless, and stubborn, often being impulsive and quick to lose his temper. He is often indifferent to others and can become angered very easily. The only person Sanemi ever showed respect for was Kagaya Ubuyashiki (the head of the Demon Slayer Corps), and this was only after he realized that there was more to the man than met the eye. Sanemi also showed a thirst for battle, wanting to face the highest-ranking demons. Sanemi's cold, rude, and dismissive demeanor is a result of having lost too many people dear to him in the past. When Genya (Sanemi's younger brother) joins the Demon Slayers in search of Sanemi, Sanemi constantly brushes him off and becomes angry at any opportunity to see him, but Tanjiro Kamado realizes that Sanemi does not truly hate Genya, but actually feels the same brotherly love for him as a child. However, Sanemi never showed this, trying to push Genya away from him and the Demon Slayers so that he would not be in danger. Due to all those he has lost, Sanemi has a deep hatred for demons and is convinced that humans and demons can never coexist. Once he has made up his mind about something, it is extremely difficult to convince him otherwise. He did not believe Tanjiro's words that Nezuko (Tanjiro's younger sister who is a demon) would not eat humans, and even tried to prove his point by stabbing the box with Nezuko inside. After angering her, he cuts off his own hand, trying to trap her into attacking him due to the effects of his rare blood. Even after she does not, and Kagaya uses this as proof that Nezuko will not attack humans, Sanemi does not truly accept the Kamado siblings.

As a Hashira, Sanemi is a very strong and skilled fighter. He has repeatedly demonstrated his outstanding ability and skill in combat. When fighting Giyu Tomioka (Hashira of Water), he was on equal terms and even stronger.

Tactical Intelligence: Despite his brash and impulsive exterior, Sanemi boasts impressive observation and combat awareness, particularly through his action-based thinking.

Combat Intuition: Sanemi has an incredible ability to make decisions and plan on the fly. As a child, he was able to capture and kill countless demons single-handedly despite knowing nothing about the Demon Slayer Corps or the Nichirin Blades, coming up with elaborate ways to capture demons by arming himself with everything he could and using his rare blood.

Muscle Control: Sanemi can control his own muscles to some extent, using this to heal himself and prevent fatal wounds from opening up in the middle of a fight.

Immense Speed and Reflexes: Sanemi possesses immense speed and reflexes. He is said to be the second fastest runner among the Hashira. During Hashira training, when he picked a fight with Tanjiro, Sanemi moved at such speeds that some observers said it appeared as if he had teleported. Sanemi later demonstrated a level of speed comparable to Giyu (the Water Hashira) during their duel. When facing demons on par with Lower-ranked demons, Sanemi was able to effortlessly slice them into pieces while still sitting down.

Immense Durability and Endurance: Despite having dozens of scars and cuts all over his body, Sanemi never showed any pain or hardship, and was even willing to cut himself with a katana to test Nezuko Kamado: in fact, he didn't even flinch when doing so.

Immense Strength: Due to years of rigorous training, Sanemi possesses incredible physical strength. He could effortlessly lift Nezuko in her crate with one hand, knock out Zenitsu (Tanjiro's friend) with one punch, and break a wooden sword.

Rare Blood: Sanemi's blood is revealed to be one of the rarest blood types, making it incredibly intoxicating and salivating for demons. It is also unique in its high potency, as even the slightest scent of his blood will instantly cause demons to salivate and lose concentration, as his blood is capable of affecting the strongest of the Ultimates. However, its effects wear off after a period of time. Despite the power of his blood, Nezuko was able to resist it due to her strong conviction and desire to not eat humans, which was further strengthened by the hypnosis instilled in her by Sakonji Urokodaki (a former Water Hashira who trained Giyu Tomioka and Tanjiro Komado). In addition to being effective against demons' senses, Sanemi's blood could coagulate due to his mastery of breathing with total concentration, allowing him to completely stop bleeding and continue fighting even if he was injured.

Master Swordsman: As the Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps, Sanemi is one of the strongest and most skilled swordsmen in the entire organization. His swordsmanship was on par with Giyu Tomioka (the Hashira of Water), an extremely skilled swordsman, during their sparring match during the Hashira's training.

Wind Breathing: A breathing style that Sanemi learned and mastered with Masachika Kumeno (Sanemi's deceased friend) under the tutelage of an unknown master. As the Hashira of Wind, Sanemi was considered the most skilled Wind Breathing user of his generation.

Standard Nichirin Katana: Sanemi wields a standard-sized and shaped Nichirin katana with a black blade that has a jagged green jaw pattern etched into both sides. The tsuba of his katana is an abstract shape with eight protrusions and intersecting patterns; each plate has a dark green core with a silver edging. The hilt of his katana is two-toned, with the top and bottom thirds covered in white cord, and the middle third covered in green. Sanemi's blade, like the Hashira, has the words "Demon Slayer" etched into it. Sanemi comes with a standard sheath that is dark gray with silver markings reminiscent of Sanemi's scars.
