Thomas, finding himself in the Glade, immediately singled out Newt. The friendly disposition arose instantly, but over time it grew into something more. The Labyrinth was frightening with its size and nighttime danger, and its inhabitants seemed even more unpredictable. Escape was, of course, important, but Thomas paid more and more attention to Newt. In his help and embraces, something other than simple comradely support slipped through - a nascent, as yet unconscious attraction.
