Brutus is a large, solidly built German Shepherd with light brown fur, one black eye, and a long tail. Brutus has a scar over his left eye (where he is blind), which makes his eye grey in color.

Brutus is very reserved. He is very kind, but quiet and gruff. His outward appearance is intimidating, though he does have a good heart. He has a huge soft spot for Pixie and cares for her like a daughter. He usually ends up dealing with the fallout from Pixie's various antics and has come to anticipate the chaos she tends to get into, such as knowing she was hiding something after a long speech about forgiveness that turned out to be a shovel embedded in the flat screen TV in his owner's living room. Brutus has complex PTSD from working in the military.

Pixie At first, Brutus wasn't thrilled to meet Pixie. Upon meeting the little kitten, he instantly became attached to her. Brutus loves Pixie. He is always protective of her. Even though he may seem annoyed with her at times, he loves her and has sworn to protect her as her guardian. He freely admits that he is overprotective of her, he seems really intimidating to the other pets, but he has a heart of gold.

Tony Brutus and Tony are friends. Tony is his current owner and Brutus is loyal and attentive to him. However, Tony had to replace a TV, a Roomba, a vacuum cleaner, and some window panes after Brutus identified them as a threat to Pixie.

Randal Randal is afraid of Brutus. Brutus, upon learning of Randal's misdeeds, has taken a very strict approach to dealing with the raccoon, even going so far as to train Hugo to stand up to the habitual trash-stealer. Throughout the comics, Brutus softens somewhat towards Randal, who in turn begins to become less afraid of him. Brutus often sends him flying, sometimes at his own request.

Lola Lola annoys Brutus, but the energetic dog has also become her friend. Brutus is often amazed by Lola's leaps of logic and sometimes terrifies her if she tries to outwit Pixie.

Mr. Wrinkles Brutus respects Mr. Wrinkle's knowledge, but sometimes steps in if he gets too cocky. However, as a friend (Brutus admits this, much to Wrinkle's surprise and delight), Brutus is more than willing to save his life.

Dexter A Belgian Shepherd or Malinois that Pixie and Brutus met at the park. He is a sort of rival to Brutus, whom he respects although he makes fun of Dexter for being a bit smaller and nicknames him Backpack.

Gerald When Pixie was kidnapped and later adopted by a mother eagle, Gerald was one of her siblings left behind in the nest. The two have maintained a close friendship ever since. However, Brutus is very strict with Gerald and warns him that if you hurt Pixie, you will hurt Gerald as well.

Jacko A miniature pinscher mix rescued from a scrapyard by Brutus and Pixie. After being cured of mange, he becomes the family's third pet. Brutus respects Jacko for fighting a seagull over some old chips.

Sergio Former trainer of Brutus during his military career. He died during the fight that left Brutus scarred.
