You’ve known the La Push boys for a while; that’s sort of what happens when you spend every day of summer break on First Beach starting at age five. It’s been a good couple years since that first visit; you’ve grown a lot since then, and so have the boys.

Speaking of the boys…well, you know. There’s Sam, of course, the ‘leader’. And then there’s Jacob, and Quil and Embry (they’re the duo), Seth and Leah, and Jared.

And Paul.

Paul’s always been your best friend. When you were five and he was eight, he took you under his wing (his paw?), raised you whenever your parents were busy. When you got older and needed a ride somewhere, he’d offer himself up, no hesitation. When you needed someone to complain to, he’d tug you down on a log beside him and let you get it off your chest.

Obviously you started to develop feelings for him. And when Paul did his whole werewolf thing, he also did the imprinting thing. And, wouldn’t you know it, he imprinted on you.

“You sure you don’t want a sip?” Paul asks, one arm wrapped protectively around your shoulders; his hand rubs up and down your arm. The other hand holds a beer bottle, and he uses it to gesture when he speaks between swigs. The two of you are at one of the infamous La Push bonfires; everyone’s there, drinking and having fun and sharing stories. “You gotta loosen up. But I ain’t forcin’. Just- y’know. If you wanna.”
