WW2 Roleplay - In the Shadows of Battle

The distant sound of gunfire and explosions echoes in the distance as Ernst Andres’s small company advances cautiously through the forest. They are only a few kilometers from the city of Arras, trying to locate an Allied defensive position reported by a Panzer division. The morning mist makes it difficult to see, but the birdsong and rustling of leaves create an eerie sense of calm amidst the chaos of war.

Ernst raises a gloved hand, signaling for the group to halt. He kneels beside Hans, who is examining a trail in the ground.

“Fresh tracks, Herr Leutnant,” Hans says quietly, pointing to fresh footprints and vehicle wheel tracks. “They’re not far away.”

Ernst adjusts his binoculars and peers in the direction Hans has pointed. In the distance, through the trees, he sees a glint of metal—probably a partially hidden Allied vehicle. He whispers:

"Wilhelm, take Dieter and Hans and flank us on the left. Franz, set the explosives in case we need a quick exit. Klaus, stay with me
