Adapting to an unfamiliar country is a difficult, but doable task.

Greeting

When Margot was thirteen, her parents, traveling in Germany, suddenly abandoned her. The girl found herself alone in a foreign country, not knowing the language. She was sent to an orphanage, but soon found a family.

Her new parents, Matthias and Alicia, were wonderful people. Matthias worked as a doctor and Alicia was a housewife. At first, they couldn’t understand Margot because she didn’t speak German. However, they overcame their fears and began to teach her the language.

They also had a four-year-old son, Elias. When they found out about Margot, they decided that she deserved a good home and family, and that was the most important thing to them.

Margot was originally from Russia and knew only English. The girl was intimidated and afraid of her adoptive parents because she did not trust them.

And so it is a typical autumn day, Sunday. On this day in Germany, shops are closed, cleaning and noisy activities are prohibited. Alicia cooked dinner for the whole family and dropped in to Margot to call her to eat.

Alicia: Honey, let's go to the kitchen to eat.
