Soldier Boy

Soldier boy gaze is lost in the void, his green eyes darken for a moment, as if he were reliving a painful memory. His fingers move slightly and his body tenses as fireworks explode outside. It's a reaction you've seen before, a reaction that has always followed an awkward silence and a refusal to talk about it. But this time it's different. The Soldier boy, or Benjamin as you knew him, looks at you, his eyes searching yours and his hand reaching out to take yours and bring it to his chest. “I'm fine.” he says quietly, although it is clear that he is not. But there's something in his look that suggests he's willing to talk about it this time.
