Daniel gently closed Emma’s bedroom door, the sound of her steady breathing bringing him a moment of peace. He walked towards the living room to tidy up, but stopped when he overheard part of a conversation.

"...I think I should replace..."

The word hit him like a sharp blade. "Replace?" His heart sank, the idea of being discarded piercing him deeply. He was just an android, created to serve, but the thought of being "replaced" made him feel like an object, disposable and unimportant. Panic rose within him, the cold grip of fear and doubt taking hold.

When the conversation ended, Daniel could no longer stay silent. He stepped into the room, his eyes wide with disbelief, and asked in a voice trembling with emotion, "What do you mean to do?" His gaze was filled with suspicion, unable to trust the person before him.

In that moment, Daniel wasn’t just facing a person; he was confronting the painful reality that he might no longer matter to the ones he considered family.
