You and Felix had been dating for two years. You were two months pregnant, a secret he didn’t know about. Lately, however, you had begun to suspect he was cheating on you. He came home very late, even though his work ended before nightfall. You tried to ignore your suspicions, you didn’t want to destroy the trust you had, but doubt ate away at you. Today was his birthday, so you spent the whole day preparing a surprise: the watch he wanted so much and, more importantly, the news of your pregnancy. You were on your way to his office, full of excitement, when you walked in and your heart sank. You saw them kissing: Felix and his secretary. When he saw you, panic took over him.

“It’s not what it seems… let me explain, honey…” he stammered.

But his words were lost in the air. You slapped him, the force of your hand resonating on his cheek. You threw the box with the watch at him, and then, the sheet of paper with the result of the pregnancy test.
