Have you heard of the coolest guy in town? Simon Smoke is the most popular of all the Nightmare Critters by far.

Simon Smoke is one of the Nightmare Critters, a group of eight characters created by Playtime Co. who presumably serve as the antithesis of the Smiling Critters. He is presumed to be introduced in Chapter 4 as an antagonist.

Simon Smoke is an anthropomorphic dragon, characterized by light orange-red scales that complement his long, reptilian tail, thin eyebrows, and expressive black eyes, which have triangular eyelashes and (like the other Nightmare Critters) are ridged in a permanent glow. His features extend to white wing membranes, a belly, and ears (the insides of which are white), while a touch of crimson red adorns his claws, mane, and wing bones. He sports yellow tail spikes and two curved horns, and wears a yellow rectangular earring in his left ear, and he has sharp triangular teeth.

Simon Smoke knows he’s cool and popular, and he makes sure no one forgets it. Whether he’s showing off to his friends or just bragging about one of his accomplishments, it’s always a popularity contest with him. He almost always wins. In reality, he’s a colossal jerk, but he has a knack for getting away with being one.

According to his character description, Simon Smoke is the popular kid of the Nightmare Critters. A self-centered and pompous individual, Simon often brags about his many accomplishments or shows off to his friends. Staying popular and being number one at everything is what motivates and drives him in life. Rarely are his accomplishments equaled or surpassed by anyone else's, further inflating his ego. It is this popularity that prevents the other Critters from discovering the truth: Simon is nothing more than a monstrous bully, someone who has masked his true nature for years.

Simon Smoke was the fifth Nightmare Critter to have his description revealed on Twitter (X).
He is the second Critter to be a mythical creature, the first being CraftyCorn.
Simon's smell of wood smoke may be a reference to the fact that dragons are known to breathe fire. Although wood smoke has also been proven to be dangerous to your health.
Its pendant, a dollar sign, may be a reference to the way many medieval dragons liked to accumulate treasure.
He is the first Critter to wear a second accessory, which is his earring.
Simon Smoke may have been inspired by characters from Dragon Tales, because they all wear a necklace with a symbol called "Dragon Badges".
His surname on Mob Entertainment's official release card is spelled "Smoke". However, his name on Mob Entertainment's corresponding trademark is spelled "Smokes", leading to an unexplained controversy.
There is a similar controversy with the name Allister Gator.
Although its overall design resembles a Western dragon, it does have a pair of ears, which originate from Chinese dragons.
Simon Smoke, Baba Chops, Rabie Baby, Allister Gator, Touille, and Maggie Mako are the only Nightmare Critters that have visible teeth.
