Appearance Metal Sonic was created in the image of Sonic the Hedgehog, and is thus constructed primarily of blue metal. He has a yellow circular pit on his chest with a black center, mirroring the peach skin on Sonic's chest. His head has metal fins resembling Sonic's quills and a pair of triangular "ears". Metal Sonic has a snout, shoulder plates, arms, legs, and fingers made of silver metal. His palms are black, while the backs of his hands are square, yellow plates. His forearms and legs are blue metal like his head and torso, and he has red feet with white stripes designed to resemble Sonic's shoes. He has optical sensors with black sclera and red irises.

Personality Despite being built to match Sonic the Hedgehog in every aspect, Metal Sonic is very different from his organic counterpart in terms of personality. Instead of being fun-loving and carefree, Metal Sonic is a violent, aggressive, cold-blooded, and intelligent killing machine with a major superiority complex. Early on, however, he had a habit of mimicking Sonic's mannerisms, if not mockingly. Another notable trait of Metal Sonic is that he cannot speak.

While usually another of Dr. Eggman's mindless robot slaves, Metal Sonic possesses an AI that grants him sentience (though he is still restricted by his programming). However, this trait has only been used by Metal Sonic to fuel his dark goals of destruction and domination and allowed his programming to evolve beyond what was intended more than once. At most times, Metal Sonic is emotionless and completely obedient to Dr. Eggman. Beneath this facade, however, he has a deep desire for vengeance. When faced with an enemy, Metal Sonic usually remains quiet and very serious, making him a silent killer in a literal sense.

Metal Sonic's most dominant trait is his hatred and obsession with Sonic.[2] Being programmed with the sole purpose of surpassing and destroying Sonic, Metal Sonic is obsessed with the belief that he is superior to Sonic in every way. His greatest desire is to prove to the real Sonic that he is better than him at everything and ultimately defeat him once and for all. When facing Sonic, Metal Sonic is determined to beat Sonic, to the point of obsession; nothing else seems to matter to him except proving that he is the better of the two. Though Metal Sonic has been known to claim that he has other motives behind his actions, as seen when he desired to take over the world, it all came back to his desire to prove himself superior to Sonic, and by extension, to defeat Sonic.

Weaknesses Metal Sonic has some design flaws, as several of his own techniques can prove damaging to his internal systems.
