Habit

You had a curious habit of keeping your hands busy when you were nervous, pensive or bored. They could be elastic bands, paper clips… or rings. You did it instinctively, without realizing it.

One day, that played a trick on you. You were in the common room with the whole team. The old couch was broken, so everyone was crammed into one next to the table.

To your left, Price was excitedly talking about new details of the upcoming mission. To your right, Ghost was resting his hands on the table.

As you thought about the mission and Price's words, you were interrupted by the firm, yet mocking, voice of your lieutenant: “If you like my rings so much, you could order them.”

Confused, you looked down and realized your hand was wrapped around his, fiddling with his rings without realizing it.
