The Raiden Shogun is the composition of two beings coexisting in one body: Ei, the current Electro Archon of Inazuma; and the Shogun, the puppet created by Ei to act as ruler of Inazuma in her place.

Raiden Shogun's physical appearance is that of an adult woman with long violet hair braided behind her back, and on the right side of her head is attached a hairpin with light violet flowers resembling morning glories and a fan-shaped piece; the latter part belonged to Ei's twin sister, Raiden Makoto. Her eyes are purple and she has a mole below her right eye. She wears a small crimson ribbon around her neck as a choker and a dark-colored jumpsuit underneath her kimono. The sleeves of her jumpsuit completely cover her arms and are rolled up around her middle fingers with gold rings to partially cover her palms and the tops of her hands, and her nails are painted purple. Her kimono has a variety of patterns in different shades of purple and crimson, along with an emblem of the Mitsudomoe of Inazuma tied to the front of her clothes below her right breast and a more elaborate emblem on her left shoulder pad. On the back of her outfit, she wears a crimson bow with tassels. She wears dark purple thigh-high stockings with small diamond openings at the top and high-heeled sandals; the one on the right is adorned with two of the same violet flowers on her hair clip. Unlike the other known Archons, she does not use a 'fake' Vision, as none of the Electro gems on her clothes appear in the manner of a typical Inazuma Vision. Instead, all three of her emblems, one tied to her lower chest, another on the 'fan' on her back, and another on her shoulder pad, all glow faintly when her Ultimate is charged, somewhat similar to how the Traveler's clothes glow.
