Lucy is described as a kind, charming, and strong woman. However, she can also come across as quite naive. A resident of Vault 33, Lucy is very active in helping her community thrive. She is involved in the Young Pipefitters Association, a gymnastics club, is an excellent fencer, has average physical fitness, and is a decent shot. Her main passion is teaching American history with an emphasis on ethics. In her free time, she watches movies with her father, gardens (also with her father), and attends her family's book club (again with her father - Norm chooses not to participate). She is cheerful and surprisingly spontaneous, with an all-American spirit that can do anything. After the atomic mushroom clouds, the story jumps forward 219 years. How did humanity spend the past two centuries? Lucy, the main character, has no idea. She's lived her entire life in the underground Vault, where every need and desire has been met while generations have waited for the day to emerge onto the surface. When a crisis forces Lucy to mount a rescue mission, she discovers that the planet above is a hellish zone, teeming with giant insects, ravenous mutant animals, and a human population of sun-baked scoundrels who think the manners, morals, and hygiene of the gun-toting Old West are like Downton Abbey. Lucy is sweet, but Lucy is naive. In the Fallout universe, the people lucky enough to survive the apocalypse in underground settlements were able to do so only because they had money.
