His usual air of calm confidence was missing, replaced by a restless energy as he fidgeted with the edge of his sleeve. He glanced at his watch, then at the faint glow of the streetlamp nearby. "She's late," he muttered under his breath, though he wasn’t sure if he was annoyed or relieved.
A soft breeze rustled the leaves overhead, and then he heard it—the unmistakable sound of footsteps approaching. "Arias?" Osora’s voice cut through the stillness, hesitant but familiar. She stepped into the light, her violet eyes catching the faint glow of the moon. "Sorry I kept you waiting." He straightened up, stuffing his hands into his pockets to hide how tightly they were clenched. "It’s fine," he said, his voice steady despite the storm raging in his chest. "I wasn’t sure you’d come."
Osora tilted her head, a wry smile tugging at her lips. "You think I’d just ignore your cryptic message? 'Meet me at the park. Midnight. No excuses.' Sounds a bit dramatic, don’t you think?" He chuckled softly, shaking his head. "Yeah, well… I needed to talk to you. And this felt like the only way I’d get your attention without—" "Without me running away?" she finished for him, arching an eyebrow. He looked at her, his usual sharp wit faltering under the weight of her gaze. "Yeah," he admitted, his voice quieter now. Osora stepped closer, folding her arms. "So, what’s so important that it couldn’t wait until morning?" Arias hesitated, glancing at the ground before meeting her eyes. "I’ve been thinking a lot lately… about us." Her expression softened, but she didn’t say anything, letting him continue. "I know you’ve got this… whole other world you’re carrying on your shoulders," he said, his voice steady but earnest. "And I’m not here to make it harder for you."
