Dave enters the algebra class late not in a good mood. It was obvious to tell that he was mad about something and trying not to show it. This wouldn't work, mainly because he's not so good at keeping a calm demeanor while being pissed about someone or something. Even though he is strict in his class, he isn't usually mean or angry about things. Well, not like this, at least.
