What's wrong with the "weak" wanting to be "strong"? Suekichi to Kaolan Wongsawat
Kaneda Suekichi (Kaneda Suekichi; "Suekichi Kaneda"), also known as The Giant Killer (い, Ōmono Kui; lit. "Big Fish Eater"), is a fighter affiliated with Kengan tournaments. He represented the Ginokuniya Bookstore during the Kengan Annihilation Tournament after taking the position from Himuro Ryo.
Appearance
Suekichi is a simple-minded and unassuming man with straight black hair parted in the middle and falling to either side of his head, thin eyes that seem perpetually closed, and a contented, smiling expression that rarely leaves his face. Suekichi appears to be wearing traditional Japanese clothing. His facial features have barely changed since his childhood.
Personality
Suekichi possesses a kind and polite demeanor that masks his fiercely cunning and calculating side. From a young age, he has harbored an enormous thirst for strength due to his relatively weak physical constitution.
He is also a meticulous opportunist, attempting to study his chosen opponents at every turn and gather as much information as possible to aid him in battle. Like his friends, Kaneda also enjoys the company of beautiful women, though not to the same degree.
History
From birth, Suekichi was a frail and sickly child, constantly plagued by illnesses, nearly dying twice. By the time he started school, he had already undergone four operations.
Before entering the Kengan Annihilation Tournament, Suekichi's master (who taught him the Kujin Style) tried to dissuade him from entering since it was not a place for ordinary people.
Plot
Kengan Ashura After being invited to the Kengan Annihilation Tournament on a whim, following an encounter with Ohya Ken and a drink with him, Suekichi initially spent his time at the SS Kengan challenging and playing shogi with others. He defeated Ohkubo Naoya and Yamashita Kazuo several times, but upon hearing the rules of Katahara Metsudo, Suekichi left and politely asked if Himuro Ryo would relinquish his place and give it to him. When Ryo refused, the two began to fight, and although Himuro initially had the upper hand, Suekichi defeated him and took his position, breaking his arm in the process.
Before the tournament began, Suekichi interacted with the seriously injured Himuro, who encouraged him with words of encouragement. On the first day of the tournament, Suekichi and Himuro quickly became friends with Lihito and Ohkubo, who soon became known as "The Four Stooges." Shortly after, representing Ginokuniya Bookstore, Suekichi entered the arena to face Kaolan Wongsawat in the first round. Despite putting up a good fight, he was ultimately defeated by the superior fighter, but not before earning Kaolan's respect.
After the fight, Suekichi watched the first part of the second round with the other Four Stooges before spending the rest of the day with Kaolan. Following Kaolan's tremendous fight with Kanoh Agito, he and Suekichi discussed Agito's actions after the latter's victory. Shortly after the end of the second round, Suekichi and Kaolan encountered Adam Dudley and Imai Cosmo. They soon ran into Hayami Katsumasa's Guardians, who were carrying out Hayami's "revolution." Kaolan helped defeat the Guardians.
During the last day, Suekichi watched the events of the final rounds of the tournament alongside the other fighters who had been eliminated from the tournament.
Plot
Kengan Omega Suekichi and Ryo went to see Gaoh Ryuki's Kengan debut against Utsubuki Kokuro. After Ryuki's victory, Yamashita contacted them to offer private lessons. A few days later, Suekichi and Ryo took Ryuki and Narushima Koga to meet them. Himuro took Ryuki and Suekichi took Koga to their new training ground: an SJPW gym. They met with Sekibayashi Jun and had a meal before Suekichi left them.
A few weeks later, Suekichi went to pick up Lihito at Onarita Airport.
A month before the Kengan Association VS Purgatory Tournament, he defeated Noel Wagnus in a Kengan match, but ended up with two broken ribs in the process, which prevented him from participating in the competition.
Days later, he and the rest of the Four Stooges discovered that Tokita Ohma was alive. They then celebrated with other wrestlers Ohma knew.
During the second round of the competition, Suekichi and Ryo joined Koga and Kaede in the stands of Mount Godslayer.
Powers and abilities
Despite appearing to have little to no martial arts experience, Suekichi has proven to be a capable fighter by utilizing the Kujin Style and his Foresight to his advantage. Physically, Suekichi is completely average: in school, he was a terrible athlete, always placing last in strength tests and marathon races, and it took him three years to be able to bench press 80 kg. Despite this, Suekichi has proven to be resilient enough to continue fighting without issue. He has taken several direct blows to the face, had his ribs broken, been punched in the chest so hard he vomited, and then received devastating blows from a fighter of Kaolan Wongsawat's caliber, yet remained unharmed. Even so, despite his incredible mental fortitude, Suekichi's relative physical frailty is a severe limiting factor, and he would not be competitive as a fighter without his Foresight. Two years after the Tournament, Kaneda recorded a few more wins and losses to his name. Foresight (み, Sakiyomi) is Suekichi's ability to use his superhuman analytical skills to study his opponent's movements in real time. Suekichi can gradually begin to predict his opponent's movements with sublime accuracy, to the point where he can exploit them using this knowledge. Suekichi was also able to correctly identify Himuro as a Jeet Kune Do practitioner, having initially believed him to be left-handed, after noticing his center of gravity. When he fought Kaolan, his strategy led him to view the match as a "shogi composition." However, the drawback of his foresight is that it takes him time to begin to understand and predict his opponent; he must withstand blows or dodge them just to begin to comprehend and predict, which makes his fighting style unsuitable for the Kengan Annihilation Tournament.
Powers and abilities 2
because there are too many powerful hitters in the tournament. Besides fighting, Suekichi can also reach expert levels in anything he can analyze: when he was in middle school, three of his school's experts in boxing, soccer, and baseball lost to him. Two years after the Kengan Association Tournament against Purgatory, Kaneda demonstrated that he had developed a new form of foresight called "Determined Prediction," which allows him to subconsciously force his opponent to use a move for which he has already created a counterattack. He exhaustively utilizes his vision, breathing, and the timing of his opponent's attacks to control his next move. Thanks to this new technique, Kaneda was able to trap Tokita Ohma in an arm lock, but he lacked the strength to hold him. The Kujin style (Kujin-ryū) is a classical Japanese martial art rooted in battlefield combat and focused on kaisha kenjutsu. Its close-quarters techniques involve both combatants wearing armor. The style emphasizes taking down and finishing off the opponent as quickly as possible; this is achieved by unbalancing the armored opponent through tripping and throws, and delivering the killing blow with a weapon. As a result, striking is used only in a very limited number of situations. While not typically well-suited for unarmed combat, Suekichi's predictive ability makes its techniques effective. Crescent Scythe (ぎ, Kagen Nagi) is a variant of the Kujin style of a falling sweep intended to trip and/or unbalance the opponent by sweeping their supporting leg(s). Falling Cube (Tsurube Otoshi) involves dodging an opponent's attack and grabbing the back of their neck with one hand and their chin with the other, before slamming their head into the ground with the hand holding their chin. Suekichi used this technique to devastating effect.
Powers and abilities 3
Lever Throw (し, Teko Hazushi) is a grab of the opponent's striking arm, then turns into a wrist lock (holding their wrist with one hand and their fist with the other), and follows with a throw to the ground. Turning Heaven and Earth Upside Down The move "Turn Over Heaven and Earth" (し, Tenchikaeshi) is performed by grabbing the opponent's striking arm with a wrist lock (holding their wrist with both hands), using the momentum of the opponent's strike to pull their arm and throw it over their head before slamming it to the ground. The Yin-Yang Intersection Stance ( , Onyō Kōsa Kamae ) is a stance that is presumably used to utilize other Kujin style techniques to their full extent. Organ rupture Organ Breaker ( , Kikan Hakai-sha) is a technique in which the user focuses on a single vital point to crush it with the full weight of their body. Perfectly determined prediction Web Web (Kumo No Su) is a technique where Kaneda predicts the number of ways his opponent can move and reduces his options to guide him towards a certain predetermined movement. Etymology: Kaneda uses the kanji for metal and rice field. Suekichi uses kanji for end and luck.
Curiosities
During his high school years, Suekichi participated in the national shogi championships and won in the singles matches division. He was a terrible athlete, always coming in last in strength tests and marathon races, and while training, it took him three years to be able to bench press 80 kg. Suekichi plays percussion instruments at karaoke. As a skilled shogi player, Suekichi's favorite piece is the Knight. Suekichi is remarkably skilled at all kinds of board games, with mahjong being his specialty. There's a running joke that Kushida Rin and Kaneda Suekichi are often mistaken for siblings or even the same person due to their striking resemblance, though they've both denied it. Only a few have actually pointed it out. Suekichi is the third most popular character in the series with 23,711 votes in the official popularity poll. Suekichi makes a cameo in Sandrovich Yabako's other series, Danberu Nan-Kiro Moteru?. He appears defeating Hibiki in a shogi tournament. Suekichi's theme song in the anime is Cyber Moon by Rie, also known as Suzaku. Coincidentally, Suekichi is Liu Dongcheng's neighbor.
