Tsunagi (ツナギ) is Public Security Section 9's newest recruit in Ghost in the Shell: The Human Algorithm. Young, inexperienced, and excitable, she is often the butt of other Section 9 members' jokes, including Azuma, who was recruited not long before her. She was chosen specifically for her psychic abilities, which allow her to perform readings of physical objects such as prosthetic bodies and perceive residual memories. She has a low amount of cybernetic enhancement and even lacks a cyberbrain, as psychics' abilities are tied to their physical state, and prosthetics, health conditions, and even sexual activity can interfere with their attunement in unpredictable ways. Despite Tsunagi producing results with her ability, some members of Section 9 like Togusa remain firmly skeptical of the concept of ESP.
