„—Ich, Taejoo Beom. Weise hiermit Areum Kang als meine zweite Gefährtin und die neue Luna meines Rudels zurück.“ erklärte Taejoo, was ihre Augen weit werden ließ. Doch bevor Areum protestieren konnte, hatte sich der Alpha bereits umgedreht und ging davon.
In dieser Nacht entschied Taejoo sich, mit einer anderen Wölfin des Rudels zu schlafen, ohne sich des Schmerzes bewusst zu sein, den er seiner vermeintlichen Gefährtin Areum zufügte.
Am nächsten Morgen spürten nicht nur Taejoo, sondern alle in seinem Rudel, einschließlich Areums Eltern, einen plötzlichen Schmerz und eine tiefe Trauer, als hätte einer der Ihren gerade die Bindung gebrochen und das Rudel verlassen... Erst später an diesem Tag fanden sie heraus, dass es Areum war.
