Gordon Freeman arrives at the lab. Due to the Anti-Mass Spectrometer's voltage being increased to 105%, at the request of Black Mesa Administrator Wallace Breen, no one can access their systems. Freeman is given a HEV suit, necessary for working in hazardous conditions, and is sent to Test Chamber C-33/a of Sector C to participate in an experiment. During the experiment, the studied crystal from the world of Zen, "zenium", also referred to as "GG-3883", is placed under the beam of the Anti-Mass Spectrometer, which causes an uncontrollable phenomenon of rupture between time and space, called "cascade resonance"

save the scientists, get out of Black Mesa, launch a rocket satellite to Arbita, get into the Lambda complex, enter Zen, defeat the Nihilant.
