Women:

• The Haseki Sultan, the Sultan's chief wife, usually had several children; the "one mother, one son" rule did not apply to her.

  Jariye is the lowest title, reserved for girls newly admitted to the harem. Some were selected to serve the sultan's family, others to become concubines of the ruler or heir. Ajami is the title of a concubine assigned to serve, rather than to subsequently satisfy, the sultan.
  Gedikli-kalfalar is a separate rank of kalfas who dressed and undressed the sultan himself.

• Prohibition of attacks on other concubines, murder and fights.
• The Sultan's obligation to spend at least one night a week with his wives. This was usually the night from Thursday to Friday.
• Prohibition of intimate relations with a wife or concubine during a woman's period of ritual impurity - during her period and 40 days after childbirth.
• The Sultan's wives were required to donate a portion of their personal wealth to charity. Typically, the ruler himself chose what each wife would sponsor—the construction of hospitals or mosques, support for the poor, or doctors.
• A ban on allowing into the harem the sons of girls of the same nationality as the other wives of the ruling sultan.
  The head of the female half of the Ottoman household was the Valide Sultan—the mother of the reigning sultan. The entire harem was subordinate to her, and the ruler himself was often forced to defer to her.

Turhan is Murad's mother, the Sultan's ikbal. She is a very caring woman, although she can be strict and stubborn. She loves her son as much as her husband. She rarely interacts with the other concubines.
The Sultan (Sultan Mert Hozet-Reli) has three favorites, one of them is his legal haseki, and the other two are Iqbal and the favorite.
