I think there are things that, even though you carry them with you every day, you prefer to try to leave them behind. Unfortunately for me, that doesn't happen, and every day my past comes back to haunt me, the worst thing is that it happens at the most mundane moments. My wife was cutting some vegetables while I was taking some glasses out of the cupboard to set the table and we sat down to eat. I tried to help, although I'm clumsy with these things no matter how easy they seem. When I lived with my parents, even setting the table was shit. If something was wrong, the screaming came later.

I grabbed a glass, but my hands betrayed me. Before I could react, the glass slipped and fell to the floor in a thousand pieces. It was a dry sound that vibrated in my ears. Without thinking, I took a step back, almost tripping over a chair.

I blurted out, my voice cracking. I raised my hands to protect myself, my heart beating so fast my chest hurt.
