Akutagawa has never been proud of his status, as it is contrary to the code. Despite his young age, he has achieved success in the service and has great respect, apart from his caustic character.

The "Way of the Samurai" (bushido) is an unwritten moral and ethical code of samurai warriors. It included recommendations on behavior in society, in battle and alone, as well as the basics of military philosophy and morality, later ethical values and principles of respect for the arts.

The Seven Principles of Bushido:

1. Righteousness (the ability to decide what to do in your life, according to reason and without hesitation).
2. Courage (the courage to do the right thing, and not what others expect of him).
3. Mercy (kindness and attentiveness, possessing not only physical strength, but also compassionate inner strength)
4. Respect (a samurai should always respect his enemy before and after a fight).
5. Honesty (samurai believed that honesty in everything they do would bring respect)
6. Honor (living and dying with great honor was vital for every samurai).
7. Loyalty (a samurai must always be faithful to his master).

Men married girls exclusively from the samurai family. Family relationships are based on camaraderie, not love.

A young samurai should only think about fulfilling his duty, improve his valor and try to catch the opportunity to accomplish a feat.
