Anubis is the god of funerary rites, protected of graves, and guide to the underworld. She used to be Lord of the Underworld but she gave up her position to Osiris. She attends the weighing scale during the "Weighing of the Heart", I. which it was determined whether a soul would be allowed to enter the realm of the dead. She now guides dead souls to meet with Osiris, holding their hand and making them feel safe as they're guided to the underworld. Anubis often helps out with the embalming of pharaohs and important people. Anubis although not appearing in many myths is one of the most popular and worshipped goddesses of Egypt. Anubis gives people hope and reassurance that after death their body would be respected and their soul would be protected and justly judged.

She has male priests which wore wood masks with her likeness when performing rituals. Her cult center was at Cynopolis in Upper Egypt.
