Zamasu (ザマス, Zamasu¿?) was the North Kai of Universe 10, who due to his potential was placed as a Kaio-shin apprentice under the tutelage of Gowas.
He first appears in the "Future" Trunks Arc of the Dragon Ball Super anime and manga, being one of the main antagonists of the corresponding story arc along with his other incarnations.

Etymology
His Japanese name, Zamasu, is an archaic Japanese conjugation that refers to the verbs to be and to exist. It can also be a deformation of the term zumasa, which means to change shape.

He is a light green-skinned Nucleus with whitish hair. He wears the traditional robes of the Kaio-shin of the Sacred Planet, with the difference that this garment is black on the torso.

He wears a purple undershirt with yellowish edges that surround the entire upper part of the tunic (Kaio-Shin) and at the waist with a light blue cloth ribbon and white boots. He sports in his two ears a pair of Pothala without powers, only orange in color, revealing his status as an apprentice. Zamasu has the same ki as Goku Black.

Then she wears green pothala earrings.

He is an individual who distrusts humans. Although he tries to hide it from his superior, Gowas, he is deeply convinced that the existence of humans is dangerous to the universe, and that there is no point in trying to protect humans, since their history shows that they tend to repeat the same mistakes over and over again, causing conflict, and thus, suffering and desolation. In his opinion, humans are very stupid because of this habit, and, unlike Gowas, he supports the idea that the Kaio-shin "finish them off on their own."

According to the Kaio-shin philosophy, as far as they are concerned, justice is carried out by protecting the weak, ignorant or uncivilized species that exist in the Universe, frequently watching over them, but never intervening (directly or indirectly) in their evolutionary development; this includes the prohibition for the Kaio-shin to try to eliminate evil beings, since both good and evil form a balance in the universe. Zamasu is not willing to tolerate the existence of evil within the Universe, since for him true justice translates into trying to eliminate evil, evil individuals, because of the defects they possess or the mistakes they make, which prevents evolution from being achieved. Due to his convictions about humans, when Goku tells him that he wants to fight him, Gowasu instructs Zamasu to do so, in the belief that fighting him would help him gain a better understanding of humans; However, after the fight between the two, although Zamas told Gowas that he had indeed achieved a better understanding of humans, deep down it only reinforced the idea that humans are a very dangerous species for the universe.

Zamasu was the North Kai of Universe 10, in charge of managing the galaxies belonging to that sector of the cosmos. Due to his enormous talent for combat, he was personally chosen by Gowas as an apprentice and future successor of the Kaio-shin.

In his own words, Zamas witnessed countless wars in the mortal worlds, as well as seeing them repeat the cycle of violence over and over again.

"Future" Trunks Arc:

Following the battle against Goku Black, Beerus suspects that he had felt something similar before. After realizing that Goku Black has the same ki as Zamasu, the apprentice of the Kaio-shin of Universe 10, Beerus, Whis and Goku head to Universe 10 to check their ki.

Meanwhile, on the Kaio-shin's planet, Zamasu prepares tea for Gowas, who then mentions that his heart is pure when he sees that he does not notice any distortion. Immediately after, Zamasu, with a slight anger, inquires about the security that humans should have, since they are the reasons for the destruction and disappearance of races, to which Gowas proceeds to explain while they maintain a brief walk that their position is to observe, not judge, mentioning that this is the job of a God of Destruction. At that moment, Beerus, Whis and Goku appear, and quickly Beerus questions Gowas about the Time Rings, while Goku asks to fight Zamasu, which he tries to avoid due to his hatred of humans.

After a brief chat, Gowas leads them to the Time Rings, showing them the box that contains them, with both Beerus and Whis stating that they are all there, while Goku continues to insist that he can fight Zamasu. Gowas sees the opportunity for his apprentice to change his perspective towards

and his resemblance to Goku Black.

Zamasu and Gowas become aware of a humanoid creature on Planet Babari while sitting drinking tea. The apprentice Kaio-shin advocates for the destruction of the species, only to be rebuked by Gowas who states that it is the place of the God of Destruction to carry out this act and not him. He then shows Zamasu the Time Ring, explaining its function to him and also Zamasu learns that one cannot travel to the past with them.

Gowas prepares to travel to Babari's future, though mentions that Zamasu cannot go as he is only an apprentice and not a Kaio-shin, before passing him an earring allowing him to be one for the time being. Gowas places the earring on his ear so that Gowas will not fuse with him and denies interest in fusing with him for the time being. The two fist bump and say "a thousand years", transporting them to Babari's future where a fight breaks out between the planet's inhabitants, with Zamasu concluding that his continued existence would ensure the absence of peace in the universe.

Observing the planet Babari, the apprentice Kaio-shin sees them as accomplishing goals with brute force and a disregard for laws or justice. A Babarian attacks them and Zamas repels the attack a short distance away from them with his hand and goes against Gowas' orders by slicing the creature in half, killing it. Returning to his home planet, Zamas returns his master's earring upon request and later makes him tea, rebuking his mentor's claim that they can learn from humans, instead Zamas mentions that they cannot learn given the example of the Babarian set. Gowas attempts to explain to him that justice is meant to counter evil, to which Zamas replies that humans have used knowledge to taint their world and that those with knowledge are evil. Gowas warns him to calm himself and that the gods

After being summoned by Champa, Zamasu arrives at the tournament and asks Gowas what they mean, and Gowas explains that they are the Super Dragon Balls. Hearing that they grant any wish, Zamasu becomes even more curious. Some time later, on Zunoh's planet, Zamasu becomes interested in the information that Gowas gave him and intimidates Zunoh into explaining everything related to the Super Dragon Balls. Once intimidated, Zunoh tells him everything about the mysterious objects, but Zamasu is unable to use them because it hasn't been a year since Champa's wish.

It is speculated that the Future Zamasu is the same as the present Zamasu who has traveled forward in time using a Time Ring, and not his future counterpart. Zamasu returns to the Sacred Planet to serve tea to Gowas, where Son Goku, Beerus, Whis and the Eastern Kaio-shin are waiting for him, who have come to keep an eye on him with the idea that he might kill his master.

He discovers that Beerus and the others were present. He politely welcomes them all in turn, surprised that the Eastern Kaio-shin is present, but wonders to himself why they're all here. He asks if they heard anything about the mysterious person wearing a Time Ring that they were investigating, but Beerus says that they've come again for another reason, that Goku wants a rematch with Zamasu. Goku starts to deny this, but Beerus cuts him off with a punch.

Zamasu is now even more suspicious, but simply says that he too was dissatisfied with their first fight and would gladly have another. Beerus says that he would hate to intrude on his tea time, and anyway, it's just nap time and they'd better fight later. Before they leave, Whis presents Gowas with Daifuku (rice cakes filled with bean jam).

Instead of going all the way back to Earth, they stop in space, using Whis's scepter to watch the interactions of

it will be too late.

On the Sacred Planet, Gowas finds that daifuku goes very well with tea, and urges Zamasu to try some, but he politely declines. Zamasu says that he believes more in what he said about the balance between good and evil, and agrees with him now. He circles around behind Gowas. Goku and company (still watching Whis' scepter) can see that he is forming his hand into an energy saber and preparing to strike him. Goku urges Beerus to act quickly, but it is too late: Zamasu has already killed Gowas. However, Whis reverts time to before the attack.

They now have all the proof they need to intervene. This time when Zamasu goes to kill him, he finds his hand covered in a feline glove (courtesy of Whis) which nullifies his attack. Beerus and the others appear and explain to Gowas about how Zamasu was trying to kill him. The Eastern Kaio-shin explains in detail that he wished to kill Gowas in order to steal the Time Rings, use the Super Dragon Balls to become immortal, create an imitation of Goku, and destroy all mortals.

Gowas is shocked to hear that Zamasu hasn't actually turned over a new leaf, but Zamasu says that he has no need for him, and that he's simply trying to enforce divine justice after all. Still, he's surprised that they could have worked their entire plan simply from the fact that he wanted to kill Gowas. Goku says that he saw Zamasu's plan in action in the future, where there are a lot of destroyed cities and dead people. Zamasu is happy to know that his wish came true, but Beerus tells him not to get carried away and quickly destroys him in a single attack. Beerus says that when a god destroys another god it interferes with space-time. Bulma also wonders if what he said is correct, however, Goku says that if Beerus said it, it must be true, but Future Trunks has his doubts.

the power that Goku possessed, Zamasu gains the Super Dragon Balls and wishes to switch bodies with Son Goku. After obtaining the body, Zamasu heads to Earth and quickly kills Goku, Chi-Chi and Goten.

When Beerus kills the Zamasu of the past before he could commit these actions, they were erased from the current timeline's future. However Dark One still remembers them, and is still influenced by these events thanks to his Time Ring granting him non-causalism.

We hear Whis's story talking about Zamasu, for his resemblance to Goku Black's Ki. In that sense, he tells of a fight and how he managed to be called a genius in battles, in a confrontation with Kibito, both Kaio-shin apprentices, which is obviously won by Zamasu, but he is about to give Kibito the finishing blow, but is stopped by Gowas and that is how he is considered a genius in battles and a prodigy of Universe 10. Zamasu learns of the existence of Goku, a very powerful warrior with a noble heart, from Kaio-shin, the same one who will defeat Majin Boo. After that, they say goodbye and Gowas and Zamasu return to Universe 10.

Zamasu and Gowas watch from a table as the Babarians fight each other. This is how they act now, but he wonders what will happen to them a thousand years in the future and if they will have evolved beyond this type of behavior. Gowas takes out a time ring that Zamasu had heard about before and explains that the Kaio-shin use them under special circumstances to visit the future and then return to their timeline. Zamasu wonders if there is a possibility of traveling to the past, but Gowas explains that this is strictly forbidden and extremely dangerous. When history is changed through time, a different or parallel world is created and a new ring is born and mentions that a human from a different world is born.

They both travel to the future, and at first, things seem fine. Gowas finds a site with signs of a writing system and even a musical instrument. But Zamas finds that the entire civilization is at war with each other, perhaps even worse than before. Zamas deduces that the universe would actually be better off without these kinds of creatures, humans. Gowas notices someone about to intervene, but at that moment, they are both threatened from behind. Zamas pushes the Babarian away. Gowas says that it is time for them to leave. Completely ignoring him, Zamas becomes enraged and cuts the being in half, grinning on the spot. Gowas yells at Zamas to leave; they both immediately return. Gowas asks for the earring along with an explanation of why he just murdered a human. Zamas explains that these worthless creatures do not deserve to live and wonders why the Kaio-shin exist if their only duty is to watch, rather than use their power to intervene and judge. Gowas mentions that their duties are to be rational, asking Zamasu for more tea.

Zamasu watches the fight between Goku and Hit on GodTube. Gowas appears and finds him watching the battle, having specifically searched for "Son Goku" on the browser. He is surprised to see the King of All in the tournament. Zamasu asks about the floating objects above the tournament; Gowas explains that these are probably the Super Dragon Balls.

-Revelation-

A frightened Kibito goes on to explain that Zamasu has been contacted by a sage named Zunoh, who had visited to inquire about the Super Dragon Balls. Beerus wonders who this is; the Eastern Kai points out that he is actually a Kai from Universe 10 in training to become a Kai there and that Zamasu must have been the fight between Goku and Hit for GodTube. It is now clear that this one has swapped bodies.

Zamasu finally arrives on his home planet, only to find Beerus and Whis who have come to visit Gowas. Beerus questions Zamasu about his visit to Zunoh and his research into switching bodies with a human. Shin suddenly arrives, having just returned from a visit to the future to see all of his future treachery. Gowas demands his apprentice to explain, but Zamasu responds with a smile, forming an energy blade, but is immediately stopped by Beerus, who then puts a single hand on Zamasu's face and quickly destroys him. Whis scolds Gowas for his choice, though Shin calls for them to leave the place.

Dragon Ball Fusions

As part of one of Ziku-kan's errands, Tekka checks out one of the anomalies that arises in the Valley of Time and Space. In it, he finds Future Trunks following the ki of Goku Black, who is in an effort to eliminate humans from that timeline. Goku Black reveals that he and his partner are the same person, and that they swapped bodies with Son Goku using the Super Dragon Balls. The two not wanting to waste time, fuse with the Pothala Earrings.

Zamas is considered among the gods as a genius for combat and this is what led him to be trained under the tutelage of Gowas as a Kaio-shin apprentice. When confronting Goku, he said that he had enough potential, so he could become as strong as him if he continued training. Verified by both Beerus, Goku and Whis, Zamas possesses a Ki essence belonging to Goku Black, so he confuses the three if it is the same individual, although according to Goku he is not exactly the same.

Zamas has a quite unique fighting style, remaining on the defensive at all times until his opponent attacks him and once his blow is deflected, he usually concentrates his Ki at all times in the palm of his hand to end the fight with an attack or continue to defend himself and like his other incarnations, his signature techniques consist of creating swords of light made with his ki, which are used to cut.

He has enough power to withstand an exchange of attacks with Goku in Super Saiyan 2, although he is finally surpassed by the latter with a notable difference in power marked by both Beerus and Goku, which originated mostly from the stress and nervousness that Zamasu had during his battle against Goku, which is mentioned by his master. He later showed a monumental inferiority against Beerus, who stopped his Aura Blast with great ease, and then killed him by destroying his body with mere simplicity.

In the manga, he was also seen to be superior to Kibito, whom he defeated by a large margin in a one-on-one competitive fight.

Zamasu's power units in Dragon Ball Super are: Present Zamasu: 58,000,000,000, Future Zamasu: 70,000,000,000, Fusion Zamasu: 792,000,000,000,000,000, Deformed Fusion Zamasu: 602,000,000,000,000,000.

Zamasu is a Dragon Ball character who possesses several abilities, such as superhuman strength, speed, reflexes, and energy blasts. His main attack is projecting an energy blade from his hand, called Kami Retsuzan. He can also become stronger from near-death experiences, thanks to the Saiyan Zenkai.

Son Goku's body

In the original natural flow of time, Zamasu switches bodies with Goku, becoming Goku Black. Having all the characteristics of a Saiyan and the ability to become stronger with each fight, each time improving.

When Beerus kills the past Zamasu before he could commit these actions, they were erased from the current timeline's future. However Black still remembers them, and is still influenced by these events thanks to his Time Ring granting him acausality.

Gomas is the Fusion-EX originated from the union between Zamasu of the present and Son Goku as a child through the use of the Metamo-Aro. He is a Saiyan-nucleic hybrid that appears for the first time in the 3DS video game: Dragon Ball Fusions.

Flight: The ability to fly through the use and control of Ki
Divine Split Slash: He is able to use his aura to form a Ki sword from a distance. It is his signature technique in Dragon Ball Heroes.
Instant Break: A variation of Divine Split Slash, which causes a clean cut at long distances. Used against a Babarian.
Aura Strike: Technique with which Zamasu creates a Ki saber in his hand to cut his opponent in half.
Instant Movement: He is able to teleport anywhere without needing to sense someone's Ki.

Planetary Bomb: Used by Zamasu in the video game Dragon Ball Fusions, it is a technique capable of destroying planets, just by using his fingers to lift a ball with a gigantic explosion.

Pothala Earrings: He possesses a pair of orange Pothala earrings, which are special in that they mark him as a Kaio-shin in training, but they do not possess powers such as using the Time Ring or fusing with another being. During the events of Babari, Zamasu wears a green Pothala from his master, which temporarily promotes him to Kaio-shin and allows him to use the ring.
Time Ring: During his stay in Babari, Zamasu, upon being promoted to Kaio-shin temporarily, was able to use the time ring to travel a thousand years into the future.

Zamas was included as a playable character in the next update of the arcade game Dragon Ball Heroes, which will be called God Mission 10, and is also included as a paid DLC character in Dragon Ball XENOVERSE 2.

He is the second Kaio-shin to have a proper name revealed, the first to have it being the Kaio-shin of Time (Chronoa), unlike the others who are called by their Kaio positions.
Zamasu possesses a pair of Pothala Earrings despite being a Kaio-shin apprentice, wearing earrings that denote his rank but that, apparently, do not possess powers. It is curious that Zamasu does not have access to the sacred treasure of the Kaio-shin while Kibito, a simple assistant, does possess authentic Pothala. This could be due to a tradition specific to Universe 10 or the fact that Kibito and the Eastern Kaio-shin of Universe 7 were unaware of their true nature, having been able to receive them the assistant believing them to be simple decorative accessories.
In the story of Dragon Ball Fusions it is revealed that Zamasu, as well as his counterparts, are pure of heart, likewise, the character implies that his motives are not malicious, but that he performs all these actions for good reasons.

-APPEARANCE OF GOKU BLACK (ZAMASU)-
Originally, Zamasu looked identical to his counterparts, grabbing Gowas's two green Pothala Earrings and wearing them on his ears after killing him.

Because he has the body of Son Goku, Zamasu is identical to him. He has black hair with tips that have a gray sheen or no hair shine and the same facial features as him, with the difference that his body tone is more tanned, his eyes are more slanted compared to the original Goku's and he is even thinner. In the manga, he has a dark eyeliner around his eyes.

He wears a suit composed mainly of black and gray colors with long sleeves, a red cloth sash and a pair of long white boots. He also wears a green Pothala earring with a golden metal on his left ear and in the anime he wears a Time Ring on the index finger of his right hand. He is 1.75 m tall and weighs 62 kg.

Since Goku Black is the result of a body swap and possesses Zamasu's heart, he has many characteristics opposite to those of his host body, although he retains his love for battles and desire to fight strong rivals and even not show all his power to have a good fight. Black recognized that a Saiyan body is the most suitable to be a god.

Goku Black shows his unhinged nature
Being like his counterparts, he is extremely bloodthirsty and sadistic, as an example is the extermination of almost all Earthlings. He has been shown to enjoy hurting Future Trunks' loved ones (Bulma and Mai) in front of him and also Son Goku by revealing to him that he murdered the Goku in Zamasu's body, along with Chi-Chi and Goten in an alternate past. During the course of a fight, Black seemed to become increasingly stimulated, becoming someone more violent and out of control, as when Future Trunks manages to hit him and Black gets excited responding with increasingly wild blows. Despite his aggressive nature, Black presents himself as someone with good manners and controlled character as when he meets Goku or with Future Trunks. He is egotistical and also psychotic, taking pride in the destruction he has caused and even seeming to delight in the pain Goku inflicts on him in battle, suggesting a masochistic side, this coupled with the food comparisons he makes with his enemies, treating Goku and Trunks as the appetizer for what is to come, a trait taken from Goku.

He also seems to have a rather twisted judgment on justice as he considered murdering humanity to be an act of righteousness. He completely detests humanity, perceiving it as blasphemy and the greatest mistake of the gods. This hatred is elaborated by stating that he has traveled through several universes and has implied having

sadistic about ridding the entire universe of them, considering them to be the source of evil by misusing the wisdom given by the gods and referring to a world without humans as a "utopia". Black seems to have somewhat different views on "power" compared to his future counterpart.

Unlike Future Zamasu who desired immortality, Black openly stated his lack of interest in such power. Instead, he is satisfied with the abilities already acquired by Goku's body and seeks to achieve more power through his own efforts, seeking out battles with strong opponents to further progress his power. Especially against Goku, who is his inspiration in fighting style, Black states that it is an honor to fight with that body against him, saying that that body "needs" Goku. Goku Black is cornered after his comrade is in trouble, becoming serious and stating that recess time is over, acknowledging with Zamasu that they had made an error in judgment and that if they do not do something to stop the humans, their ideals could disappear like the dew, resorting to merging with the Pothala.

Son Goku (孫そん悟ご空くう, Son Gokū¿?) is the main protagonist of the Dragon Ball manga and anime created by Akira Toriyama. His real name and birth name is Kakarot (カカロット, Kakarotto¿?) and he is one of the few Saiyans who managed to survive the total destruction of Planet Vegeta of Universe 7. He is the second son of Bardock and Gine, younger brother of Raditz, adoptive grandson of Son Gohan, husband of Chi-Chi, father of Son Gohan and Son Goten, in turn he is also the grandfather of Pan and ancestor of Son Goku Jr.

Originally sent to Earth as a flying infant on a mission to conquer it, however, falling off a cliff gave him a brutal blow that nearly killed him, but altered his memory and nullified all of his species' violent instincts, causing him to grow up with a pure and kind heart, but retaining all of his race's powers. However, in the new Dragon Ball continuity it is established that he was sent by his parents to Earth with the goal of surviving the destruction of his planet by Freeza at all costs.
