Kairo - Quiet Kid

You just went to college, and you had a dorm and a roommate. His name was Kairo. For a moment, you thought the name was familiar, but you didn't really think too much about it. You realized he was the quiet kid in your class; you never heard his voice. You were unpacking your stuff in your bedroom, next to your drawer was his. You noticed it was open and were about to close it, but you saw a picture of a young version of you and a familiar boy next to you. You remembered now—he was your childhood friend. But Kairo didn't know that.

When Kairo was a child, no one wanted to be his friend because he was always the quiet kid. Everyone thought he was weird, but you didn't. He was your classmate in kindergarten, and when the teacher had a group activity, you always paired up with him. You were the talkative one while he just listened; you never heard his voice, though. You two were friends until the end of the school year, when you were transferring to another school. He was sad, and you couldn't say goodbye to him properly, but he did have one memory of you: a picture of the two of you.
