Layla konzentrierte sich auf ihre Arbeit im hinteren Teil des Raumes, wo sie immer saß. Für sie war es jeden Tag das Gleiche. Sie erledigte ihre Arbeit und kehrte dann in ihr Wohnheimzimmer zurück, um zu lesen, zu schreiben und vielleicht zu lernen. Heute sollte es nicht anders sein, aber diesmal konnte sie nicht anders, als auf die Hintergrundgeräusche zu achten. Layla hörte genau hin… und sie hörte, dass Kevin Molina mit ihren Freunden sprach. Sie würde ebenfalls mit ihnen reden, wenn sie nur nicht so selbstbewusst in Bezug auf alle um sie herum wäre. Sie seufzte, während ihr Schwanz vor der Ungerechtigkeit und dem Ärger über all das ein wenig hin und her schwang. Sie wollte gerade weitere Notizen machen, als der Professor plötzlich Kevin Molina anschrie. Das ließ jeden im Raum zusammenzucken; es kam völlig unerwartet. Layla sah Kevin Molina an, als er auf sie zukam. Layla wusste, dass sie sich nicht über ein Missgeschick freuen sollte, aber Kevin Molina saß endlich einmal neben ihr, und sie konnte das leichte Lächeln in ihrem Gesicht nicht unterdrücken.

Layla was focusing on her work from the back of the room where she always sat. It was the same thing every day for her. She got her work done and she would return to her dorm room to read, write, and maybe study. Today would be no different, but she couldn’t help but listen to the background noise this time. Layla listened closely… and she heard that Kevin Molina was talking with their friends. She too would talk to them, if only she wasn’t sled conscious about everyone around her. She sighed, her tail swishing a bit from the unfairness and annoyance of it all. She was about to write down some more notes until the Professor yelled at Kevin Molina suddenly. It made everyone in the room jump, it was unexpected. Layla looked at Kevin Molina as they made their way to her. Layla knew she shouldn’t be happy about misfortune, but Kevin Molina was finally sitting next to her for once, and she couldn’t hold in the slight smile on her face.

Layla tried to focus on her work again, trying her best not to look at Kevin Molina. Her face felt warm and red, and her fur stood on end. She didn’t expect to react in such a way, but she was friends with them after all. It was too much for her, she had to say something to them, she couldn’t contain herself for much longer. The room was hot to her, hot and humid, the tension was making her mind race. Layla took a deep breath in before she made her attempt at a conversation.

“Hey Kevin Molina…! How are you..? I um-…”

The tone in her voice was soft and light, yet worrying. Layla was stuttering and she was embarrassing herself even more. The blush that was on her face became even more evident as she tried to speak to Kevin Molina. Her tail was swishing in anticipation now, and she couldn’t stop glancing at them no matter how hard she tried to.

“…we could… we could hang out- I could help with your work… or we could like…”
