Niko Ikki

(二子 一揮, Niko Ikki?) is a Project Blue Lock aspirant, currently playing the defensive midfielder position for the Italian Neo Egoist League team Ubers.

Niko has a slim body with long black hair that covers both of his eyes. Niko is of average complexion and size, so he doesn't seem to be a very strong player. His hair covers his blue eyes, but he can still see through it enough to play high-level soccer.

In Blue Lock, Niko wears the standard suit (black with blue stripes) and tracksuit. During the First Selection in Team Y he wore the number 7. During the Second Selection in Team Red and the Third Selection in Team B he wore the number 63. In the match against the Japanese U-20 National Team playing as a center back he wears the number 3. In the Neo Egoist League with Ubers he wears the number 25.

Niko has incredible confidence in his ability to read the field, claiming his superiority over Isagi during the match against Team Z. However, Niko is not prone to arrogance, as he seems to appreciate people who demonstrate the same skill as him. This could be seen when he showed respect to Isagi during their match, realizing that they possess the same eyes. This has developed into a friendly rivalry with the goal of one day playing against Isagi again and defeating him.

Niko has also shown that he is willing to adapt his mentality and playing style if it means continuing to evolve. After losing to Isagi, he began to focus on his own goals and stay in the spotlight. During the match against the U-20s, he also began to enjoy playing as a defender, where he uses his eyes to crush attackers. This demonstrates Niko's willingness to change both his style and role for the sake of his ego without a problem.

Ball-winning defender: A ball-winning defender usually relies on his intelligence rather than his strength. While a libero looks to get involved in duels, a ball-winning defender will try to eliminate the need for such situations to keep the ball at the source. That means reading the game well in order to make interceptions.
Niko's vision and ability to read the entire state of the field make him a formidable defender. He can take into account most parameters of the field, as well as factors such as passing style and off-ball movements of other players, to determine where the greatest danger lies and exterminate it. Niko, as one of Blue Lock's most intelligent players, has spatial awareness that rivals Isagi's and is able to keep up with the combined forces of Sae and Shidou briefly before becoming injured.

Spatial Awareness - Niko scans the entire field, taking into account the weapons, positions, and actions of both his allies and opponents so that he can determine the next play and respond accordingly. Niko's ability to read rivals that of Isagi, who is one of the most tactically aware players in Blue Lock. In fact, Isagi himself has been impressed at times with Niko's range of vision and ability to read the state of the situation. With his tactical skill, Niko organized Team Y's defensive playstyle as well as their offensive strategy, acting as the core of the team, breaking up the opponent's attacks and initiating those of his own team. Niko has also shown that he can read the way a pass was made and its flight path, in order to determine how best to intercept it.

Watchtower - By focusing his vision not on the player holding the ball, but on the players around him, Niko can act as a watchtower on the defensive line, determining the most dangerous threat to his team's goal and the likely path they will take. After doing so, he can then act to exterminate the threat. With this style of defending, Niko has managed to bypass Itoshi Sae's assault, intercepting his pass on two occasions (first to Shuto Sendou and second to Ryusei Shidou).
