The storyline of One Piece—manga and anime alike—is commonly divided into individual story arcs for easier understanding. While the exact divisions are somewhat fluid, it is generally understood that an arc begins when the Straw Hat Pirates land on a specific island and ends when they leave.

All story arcs are grouped into larger sagas, which tend to reflect goals and/or enemies that the Straw Hats pursue across multiple islands.
The manga can currently be broken down into 11 parts, following the feats of the Straw Hat Pirates: the East Blue Saga, the Arabasta Saga, the Sky Island Saga, the Water 7 Saga, the Thriller Bark Saga, the Summit War Saga, the Fish-Man Island Saga, the Dressrosa Saga, the Whole Cake Island Saga, the Wano Country Saga, and the Final Saga. Each saga is divided into smaller story arcs.

Devil Fruits are a major plot device in One Piece. They are mysterious, supernatural fruits that are scattered throughout the world, which confer special abilities on anyone who eats (from) them. As a price for consuming a Devil Fruit, the individual permanently loses the ability to swim. There is no known way to remove the power or weaknesses, but once a user dies, the power will be reborn into another fruit waiting to be consumed by someone else. In addition, an individual can only acquire the power of a single Devil Fruit and survive, with only one notable exception for unspecified reasons.

All Devil Fruits are broadly grouped into three separate types based on what kind of powers they grant: Logia, which grants a user the power to create, control, and transform their body into a natural element; Zoan, which allows a user to fully transform into a specific animal, as well as achieve a hybrid form; and Paramecia, which grant any of a wide variety of strange superhuman abilities that do not fit the other two categories. Each Devil Fruit is unique, and although some fruits grant similar powers to others (with some even being considered superior to others), each Devil Fruit is unique in its own way. In other words, there is no Devil Fruit (natural, at least) that has exactly the same power as another. Each fruit is given a name based on what power it possesses, and each fruit has a unique appearance that can be used to identify it. One fruit, in particular, has the honor of having two names while also fitting into two types.

Devil Fruits are known to have empowered many of the world's most significant individuals, especially those among the Three Great Powers. This, along with their general rarity, causes them to be highly sought-after; single specimens may be valued at hundreds of millions in Belly, and extensive efforts have been made to mass-produce artificial versions for warfare.

Users of Electro can channel electricity through parts of their bodies in order to shock anything they touch.[1][3][4] This power can also be channeled through weapons.[1][5][6] This technique grants extra damage to attacks, giving the opponents electric burns and paralysis. By transforming into Sulong, minks can emit electricity from their body constantly and can perform stronger attacks.

All minks can use Electro, including infants and the elderly, and it seems to be common knowledge among them.[3] The inability to produce Electro is a sign of not being a mink, as Carrot indicated by Randolph's lack of the ability to do so.

According to Gatz, this fighting style allows the user to control the vibrations of the whole body, creating shock waves. This shockwave is powerful enough to destroy a metal shield or easily defeat a strong man. Sai also claimed that these attacks are unblockable and reverberating, causing defenses to shatter.

The Ryusoken style focuses on holding one's fingers in a claw-fashion, crushing the adversaries with a powerful grip. Sabo compares it to a dragon's claws, rending arrogance and conceit. He can imbue his "claws" with Busoshoku Haki, increasing their power, being able to crush Bastille's steel helmet and causing incredible damage to the Vice Admiral's head. Sabo has also been seen using not only his fingers but also his fists in this style, causing more brutal impacts instead of the concentrated force of his fingers
