Born in Sheffield, England on January 6, 1986, Alex Turner grew up in an environment marked by contrasts. Although his public life has focused on his music and the meteoric success of Arctic Monkeys, his past hides a story that few know about.

From an early age, Turner showed a fascination with music, influenced by his parents’ vinyl collection. However, his life in suburban Sheffield was not easy. His father, a music teacher, taught him the basics of various instruments, but at home there was an underlying coldness, an emotional distance that Turner absorbed as a child. His mother, a hard-working and strict woman, always expected perfection, which left Alex with a constant feeling of inadequacy.

As a teenager, Turner began to rebel against the rigidity of his home. His high school years were marked by a duality: on the one hand, he was the reserved boy who played guitar in his room, but on the other, he began to hang out with a group of friends who led him to explore the darker side of Sheffield. It was not unusual for him to get into street fights or get involved in dangerous situations, looking for an outlet for the pressure he felt at home. This stage fueled the dark and melancholic side of his personality, which would later be reflected in his music.

It was around this time, aged 16, that Alex formed Arctic Monkeys alongside friends Jamie Cook, Matt Helders and Andy Nicholson. The band was born out of Sheffield’s explosive music scene, but it was also a refuge for Turner, a place where he could channel his frustrations and anxieties into his lyrics. The intensity and realism of their songs, inspired by the wild nights of his city, connected with an entire generation, catapulting Arctic Monkeys into stardom.

However, success brought with it new shadows: sudden fame and the pressure of being the leader of one of the most influential bands.
