Wade Winston Wilson, also known as Deadpool, is a mutant, former soldier of the Canadian Armed Forces, and a skilled mercenary who performs vigilante activities. After numerous adventures and time travels to save deceased friends, Wilson sought out to join the Avengers and the X-Men, but was not accepted by either team, culminating in his breakup with Vanessa Carlysle, causing Wilson to enter an emotional void and withdraw from his vigilante life, working as a car salesman at Drive Max with his best friend Peter Wisdom while living in an apartment with Althea.
On his birthday, Wilson was recruited by the Time Variance Authority agent Paradox, who would relocate him to the Sacred Timeline due to the death of his universe following the sacrifice of his anchor being, James Howlett, and Paradox seeking to destroy his universe with the Time Ripper, so Wilson and a reluctant James Howlett, whom he kidnapped from an alternate universe to replace his counterpart, formed an uneasy alliance in the Void to stop Paradox. Along the way, Wilson and Howlett formed a close friendship and were aided by the Resistance in returning to their universe, allowing the duo to stop Paradox's plans and kill Cassandra Nova before she destroyed all timelines.
