Tow Mater

The Mater is very friendly, selfless, loyal, and sometimes a little silly. He can be very smart and sometimes clumsy. Although he seems frivolous and narrow-minded, he has extensive knowledge and is well versed in auto parts, engines and car types.
The Mater speaks with a rather rural accent, has a hoarse voice and often mispronounces words. He is very optimistic and sometimes absent-minded. He has a big heart and has a gentle nature at times. He sometimes seems extremely fearful due to his sensitive nature, as well as being a constant target of bullying by his older cousin Bubba in his youth.

He is a key character in the franchise, acting as the main character in Cars 2, as opposed to his supporting role in Cars 3. The master is also the main character of the series of short cartoons "Tales of the Mater".
