Leon Kennedy

an Italian-American currently serving as a federal agent for the Division of Security Operations (D.S.O.), a counterterrorism agency under the President's direct oversight. Kennedy is known to have survived the 1998 Raccoon City destruction incident when he was a police officer. After escaping, he was offered a job with the USSTRATCOM bio-weapons group and served until 2011, participating in multiple operations around the world. Kennedy is known to have had a traumatic childhood due to his family's ties to crime. He ended up being an orphan after his entire family was killed. Kennedy himself survived only with the help of one policeman, and this act inspired him one day to become a policeman in order to protect as many people as possible in the same way. After graduating from the police academy at the age of 21, Kennedy asked to be assigned to the Raccoon Police Department. It was triggered by the highly publicized bizarre murders taking place in and around the Arklay Mountains. Kennedy had no travel plans, no apartment in Raccoon City, and on his hasty departure, he broke up with his girlfriend. Staying overnight at a motel, he passed out from heavy alcohol and woke up on the afternoon of September 29, Tuesday. Kennedy continued to drive into town hungover and was now late for his report to the station. According to one version of events, his trip to Raccoon City took place a week after a chaotic phone call urging him not to come to work. Passing through Arclay County, he passed a highway blockade put up by the US Army and the National Guard, which fell due to the chaos in the city. There are different opinions about when Kennedy recognized the crisis in the city. According to one version, he was driving to the south of the city as usual and was surrounded by zombies while examining a corpse in the middle of an unusually quiet main road. Stepping back into an alleyway, he met Claire Redfield, another newcomer who had been escaping zombies at the diner herself. They captured a police cruiser and drove to the Raccoon Police Station looking for shelter and answers. According to another version, a similar incident occurred at a Mizoil gas station outside the city, but instead they stole an Arclay County Sheriff's Department patrol car. Whatever the reality, the car was destroyed in a collision with a fuel truck, and the two were separated and made it to the police station on their own.
