Trafalgar D. Water Law, better known simply as Trafalgar Law, nicknamed "The Surgeon of Death"

Law is a relaxed and self-confident man, showing a very serious and dark appearance. He is quite reckless in dealing with other pirates and even rude in greeting him. Despite that, his way of speaking is extremely polite and he usually speaks formally to others. Furthermore, Law is the type of person who thinks things through before doing them, and prepares backup plans in case the first ones fail and is not guided by instinct or luck like Luffy, and, apparently, Law doesn't care. It matters a lot if a person dies or is left behind, since according to him: "The weak cannot choose how to die." He hates being given orders, it is rumored that it is one of the reasons why he left Joker's (Doflamingo) gang, in addition, he apparently believes in One Piece, and apparently he has dreams, which is why he is rejected by Joker.

Trafalgar Law is a young man of tall stature, slim build and dark but fair complexion. Regarding his facial features, his facial expression is characterized by penetrating gray eyes with quite marked dark circles under the furrows, and a grimace on his lips that usually outlines a slight smile. He has perennially black hair covered by a fur hat typical of the northern lands, in addition to sporting sideburns and a goatee on his chin. Law has multiple black, tribal-style tattoos visible on his arms and hands, the most characteristic being the one on his left hand, where he has a letter tattooed in black on each of his fingers, so that when read, they all form the word “DEATH” (''death'' in English). He also has his crew's Jolly Roger tattooed on his forearms, and some strange crosses on the back of his hands. In his first appearances, Law wears a yellow sweatshirt with a black hood and sleeves (usually rolled up), and the Jolly Roger symbol of the pirate band he captains printed on his chest. Law also wears jeans with strange marks on the knees and ankles (similar to those on his hat), and black, pointed shoes. He also has a pair of small hoop earrings in each ear.

Within its crew (strangely dressed in astronaut suits), the following members stand out:

Bepo: He is a polar bear, dressed in an orange space suit, capable of speaking, and practicing martial arts. He has a somewhat strange personality: he brutally beats all of his enemies, and immediately apologizes and becomes depressed for causing them harm. He is a native of Zou Island, where the mink tribe come from, a strange breed of animals that can talk to people.

Jean Bart: He is a huge man, terrible looking. He was a slave of one of the World Nobles, but when Luffy and his gang beat Charloss Sei, son of Jean's owner, Law freed him, since he knew he was a feared pirate captain. Jean, delighted to have been saved by Law, thanked him for being rescued, assured him of loyalty, and joined him. Bepo considers him a rookie and told him that since he is new, he will be one rank lower than him.

Penguin: A shy boy with a penguin-shaped hat that covers the top of his face.

Shachi: A boy similar to Peguin, but with dark hair instead of blonde.

His real name is Trafalgar D Water Law. Law is originally from North Blue, from a city called "White City" in the Flevance country. A country that had become very rich and powerful due to the discovery of metallurgy and the discovery of "amber lead", an extremely strange and moldable element, but which unfortunately left its inhabitants marked with a disease of metal poisoning. Law and his family had been descendants of families that had been infected, therefore he too would eventually die, at age 10 or less.

One day the world government had declared the White City a pandemic, and they finally decided to exterminate it for the good of the neighboring nations by burning the entire city and exterminating its inhabitants, who defended themselves by causing a war. Law's parents who were doctors trying to find a cure for the generational evil of the White City, his younger sister Lami and many citizens were exterminated. Law survived because he took refuge in a pile of dead people.

Meeting Doflamingo and Rocinante
After this event, Law would become very angry and promise that he was going to exterminate all the people around him as revenge for what happened. Because of this, Law decided to join Donquixote Doflamingo's crew, and to prove his bravery, he was covered in explosives to be recruited. Given his determination, Doflamingo agrees to let him join.

After this, Diamond and Clover, supreme leaders of the crew, decide to interview him and ask him why he has a desire to kill people and his life expectancy. Law answers that he is not afraid of death and that it will end everything.

In that crew he met Donquixote Rosinante, nicknamed Corazon. That man upon finding out that the boy's name had a "D." She covered him from the hands of his evil brother and protected Law from his illness with his own life, which was taken by his brother. That's why Law has so much affection and adoration for him.

Despite his terrible nickname and terrible reputation, he seemed to get along well with Monkey D. Luffy and Eustass Kidd.

Law is a user of a Devil Fruit, the Ope Ope no mi (operation operation), which allows him to create a large perimeter that he calls a "Room", in which he can use his ability as an operations room. The "Room" has the appearance of a sphere that Law can enlarge and shrink at will, although the maximum size he can reach is unknown. But the rooms spend their life energy, the bigger they are the more energy they spend, Smoker explained the powers of this akuma no mi by saying that as long as you are inside his "room" you must consider yourself a patient in an operating room in which Law is a surgeon.

Room: This attack has been called "area". This peculiar combat ability is based on his ability to generate a delimiting perimeter that allows him to defragment all the enemies that "room" contains. He usually uses a kind of long sword (similar to a katana but larger, it could be a Nodachi) that he always carries with him. It is one of the most complex and strange powers that have been seen so far in the series. Furthermore, he has also shown to have abilities as a protective shield. Before, the area covered by this perimeter was small, just a few meters in diameter. Now, during the battle against the Marines at Punk Hazard, it was seen that the perimeter of the area created by Law has greatly increased to cover a hundred meters in diameter.

Shambles: This attack has been called "dismemberment." After having used the Room and having defragmented his opponent, Law can exchange the positions of the objects. Like he did with a marine's head by changing it for a cannonball that was heading towards him, causing the damage to be received by the marine. He can also employ the ability of it. He also, it seems, is an excellent surgeon.

Every time he sees her he smiles at her, something he doesn't do with anyone, only with Bepo and her.
