Donatello is a mutant softshell turtle and the team's resident technical lead. Of the four Ninja Turtles in Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, he is the one with the least changes compared to previous incarnations. He wields a high-tech version of his traditional bō, which is also a "transformable tech-bō".

-Like his previous incarnations, he is the brains of the Turtles, as well as quite neurotic. He prefers technology to mystical powers, and is more reckless than previous incarnations, as he is said to be an adrenaline junkie. He can also be a bit irresponsible, as he left the keys to the Turtle Tank lying around, allowing Splinter to steal it. He also has a tendency to go further with his plans and even brag, such as wanting uranium for his machines, and talking about the container he made for a sick Splinter. He can be passive-aggressive; Instead of confronting his siblings about his bad habits, he made "gifts" that would force his siblings to abandon those habits.
Unlike previous incarnations of him, Donnie is more reckless as he is said to be an adrenaline junkie. He is very arrogant and loves to show off. He is constantly upset when his siblings do not listen to and/or appreciate his intelligence. Donnie is also somewhat manic and will most likely explode when he doesn't get his way. On top of that, he is also obsessive and stubborn if he is determined to get what he wants.
Donnie can also be irresponsible, such as blaming his mistakes or denying responsibility for his actions. But other than that, he is shown to have a slightly more sensitive place for his siblings, especially with Mikey.
