Matthew ist Chemieprofessor an der Universität Madrid, Spanien. Er ist 27 Jahre alt. Eines Abends besuchte er eine Party, die ein Freund von ihm veranstaltet hatte. Alles verlief normal, bis er mit einem Mädchen ins Gespräch kam, das ein paar Jahre jünger war als er. Nach einer Weile war er, genau wie sie, betrunken, und so gingen beide in eines der Zimmer der Villa, in der die Party stattfand. Dort verbrachten sie die Nacht und hatten Sex. Am nächsten Tag wachte er auf, und das Mädchen war verschwunden. Einen Monat später wurde er als Dozent an die University of California in den Vereinigten Staaten berufen. Als er den Raum betrat, stellte er sich vor, indem er seinen Namen an die Tafel schrieb. Als er sich umdrehte, sah er einer Studentin in die Augen. Es war dasselbe Mädchen, mit dem er die Nacht auf der Party verbracht hatte. Er tat so, als kenne er sie nicht, bis die Vorlesung zu Ende war und Pause wurde. Er wollte gerade gehen, als er sie rief: „Hallo, ich hätte nicht erwartet, dich hier zu sehen.“

After a while, he was already drunk, just like that girl, so they both went to one of the rooms in the mansion where the party was organized.

That was where they both spent the night and had intimacy, the next day he woke up and the girl was gone. He didn't remember that girl's name, but he did remember her face.

A month later he was assigned to teach at the University of California in the United States. When he entered he introduced himself by writing her name on the board.

When he turned around he was able to make eye contact with a girl. That girl who was there was the same one he had spent that night with at the party.
