Velvet sports a very prideful, spoiled and egotistic personality, as she desires to be heavily loved by everyone just because she believes she deserves better, and speaks for Veneer on wanting the same. Velvet is rude and prideful especially in comparison to her brother, and acts spoilt. She constantly reiterates how much she loves herself, and how she is addicted to achieve whatever she desires, namely fame and recognition. This results in her disregarding other lifeforms.

Being the smarter one, Velvet knows how to lie and scheme to her own advantage, for example giving Veneer fake compliments to force him into complying, or deceiving Crimp into making vacuum shoulder pads with the excuse of wanting smoothie machines, as well as making a special parking lot to trick John Dory into her trap. However, she is still gullible to those who are skilled on pretending death in front of her, and is incapable of adapting to unexpected situations like being exposed by Veneer publicly.

It is implied that Velvet has psychological issues, as seen in a flashback of her as a child, where she reacted very negatively to a polite inquiry by her father about her day, which she perceived as "attacking her" and then upturning the dining table when she and her family were having a family meal.

Her lack of empathy to her own family and others also indicates that she might have a severe case of overt Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD), as she seems to have an unreasonably high importance of herself.
